I've been liking Armstrong's daily podcasts so far.
    *ducks*

    Whatsit like?
It's just him talking to an old broadcasting friend (who knows litlle about cycling) about the day's stage. Armstrong is an engaging talker and just really knows the ins and outs of bike racing even if, by his own admission, is a bit out of touch with the actual riders.

It's one of the better podcasts. It is more to the point and less mindless rambling prior to dinner like so many of the current ones. They seem to run a format of recap with obvious points -> interview -> random ramble -> interview -> let's go to dinner and make some inside jokes that are hardly funny.

Armstrong to his credit is more on point with opinion and analysis and the overall tone of the podcast resembles other sports podcasts. That being said, I like Friebe on the cycling podcast when he is in the mood and whenever former pro's (even David Millar) add some actual insight.

TL;DR It's worth listening too. Would consider it one of the better ones.

Had an airport trip to make yesterday so listened to the first Armstrong one. He's compelling but still a total narcissist. His analysis of the first three stages in the preview show turned out pretty spot on, but he bigs up his getting his hands on the tour roadbook (saying aso wouldnt be happy). Mate, we all got it...

Had a marathon catch up session yesterday on multiple TdF focussed podcasts. LA's Stages good, ITV good if primarily chat links around the audio from TV highlights package. Like the insider insight from LA and occasionally from D Millar and Boardman. Cycling News not doing much bar the Recon Ride previews.

The Cycling Podcast got irritating. Birnie and Moore do tend to latch on to something, put out their opinion and just yack on and on without much internal challenge or debate. E.g. the Aru / Froome wait / not wait. Comes over as an audio version of the worst type of internet forum echo chamber chat :D

Plus their inconsistency annoys me. Somewhere in the TdF series they mentioned one team rider (can't recall who and ain't going back through to find it) had a missed whereabouts marker against, dismissed it as not important; last year however they treated the Lizzie A (as was) saga as possibly one of the worst things ever in cycling.

Another episode they brought into a TdF podcast the subject of Team Sky and deemed lack of support for women's cycling, but in the same section made a one and only passing reference to the Giro Rosa happening, without seeming to see any form of double standards.

At least they have tuned down the Ciro stuff.

My growing irritation with Birnie n Moore perhaps amplified by listening to multiple episodes back to back. But do want less gossip and more insight, maybe too much to expect from journalists.

Ok mini-rant over. Kilometre 0s are ok!

Probably Yoann Offredo - in the break on stage 2 - got a year long ban for missing three tests.

In fairness to them, they do run a monthly podcast dedicated to women's cycling as well. (I disagree with them on the Sky thing though, but that's a different conversation)

I think with Freibe missing, the other two have seemed to just align their opinions to whatever the French bloke thinks. They defer to him while they don't normally defer to each other.

Friends specials (roughly monthly) require a subscription of £10 per year. The rest are free.
Aspire not to have more, but to be more.

I have been on a longer commute in the morning so actually taking time to listen to TCP rather than just listen to it in the background.

I think its quite good. I am enjoying the French chap putting the boot in about any sort of SKY bias at every opportunity. He even got a nibble from Richard Moore the other day.

Although he seems very much from the French school of cycling journalists that think the sport exists merely as a muse to their literary delusions.

It does miss Friebe but Thomazeau is decent - with just Moore and Birnie it would be a pretty bland listen. As above, Thomazeau's perspective is usefully different to the other two.

    KM0s have been great.

Is it just me or are there significantly fewer interviews with riders than normal?

Offredo's missed tests were partly due to administrative errors by his team, there was acknowledgement by the authorities that he was blameless but they still applied the suspension.

(Sorry, but can Michael Rasmussen just go and f**k so far off?! Seriously got more sympathy for Armstrong. At least he admits what he did was wrong and accepts the punishment rather than spending his life trying to drag others down with him to make himself feel better

    Rasmussen = Tool)

    Ahem...
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Rasmussen is real piece of work. Worse than Armstrong, who is becoming almost likeable. He thinks he's a victim of some sort of miscarriage of justice. As though the anti-doping rules where an affront to his human rights.

Managed to listed to the whole thing this morning. His desire to get a job in pro cycling because he really feels he has something to offer today's riders? Tool.

Quite fancy a trip to Tomazeau's place in Marseille. Birnie's mangling of French was also a high point.

Aye but a bunch of international guests (including a secret one) aren't gonna make their way to Rotherham are they? ;).

    Thomazeau loves Doncaster though.
As it is I was thinking more of the home counties - Cambridge would be a good shout.
