I didn't mind it at all.

Its the elephant in the room, but how bad was that folk music they used?

Thought it was OK, but if you listened to two episodes in a row it started to grate.

Enjoyed The Cycling Podcast’s coverage of the Giro? Their Giro theme was “Cozze Piccinne“, a song from the south. The literal translation is “small mussels” but the real meaning is snails. Yes, it’s about eating snails, a traditional dish in the rural south and with some useful nutritional benefits for athletes too

I didn't have any issue with the music...

No, me either, it's good to have your mind opened a bit music-wise...

Yeah the music was fine for me as well. I got bored in the full version they put at the end of the last podcast though.

I liked all the cultural stuff - it's the first time I've listened to their Grand Tour coverage and it made the race feel much more involving.

    i loved it!
  • Don't mind Ciro - his cameos can be quite amusing and he does give a good flavour of what the non English-speaking press think.

The stuff with Pozzato on the other hand quickly degenerated into Topgear-esque schoolboy childishness and needs to be canned

Speaking of music, I rather like the KM0 music...

So what are the thoughts on the (no Friebe) Tour efforts this year ?

I have enjoyed the tour podcasts, thought they have been well made and informed and good interviews and insight and the KM0 they do as well. The friends of the podcast has been worth it also, hoping they do an end of your review like last year.

I think it's done a Zakarin - gone badly downhill. The episodes have been too long, containing too much laboured humour and not enough insight. Any appearance of Ciro caused me to turn off immediately. I enjoyed the ITV and 5-Live podcasts much more.

I've enjoyed it, probably would have been better with Friebe in it but I've still listened to every episode (I have a 50 minute drive to work so it fits nicely). Also enjoyed the KM0s

Some of the above criticisms could be due to the racing not being particularly spectacular this year. I assume they can't get away with doing 15 minute wrap ups on boring days.

Well... the race didn't make it easy to make an interesting podcast each night. But I missed Friebe. He's the best of the three.

Haven't listened to the more recent KM0s but they were decent. Though the attempted SA accent for the KM0 intros grated each time I heard it. Interesting reveal in one of the episodes that it is Richard's wife that does all the accented intros.

Friebe's back for the Stage 21 and race wrap up. Was decent.

Friebe was in it most days though, and I always felt that it was so obviously his 'second job' that it maybe wasn't a good idea? It just felt like an afterthought that was rushed in (as I guess it was). Overall though, I enjoyed them all. Its nice to get that overview at the very end of the day with some post race news thrown in.

I listed to one ITV Podcast, it was good , but if you'd watched the highlights show on TV, it was pointless.

here's the video of the event we hosted on Thursday night after the TT... some of you may have heard them talking about it in subsequent podcasts...

The last bit of the Stage 21 podcast when they were signing off was a little tear jerky I thought...

Could have been the bloomin' headwind at the time mind

I prefered the Giro podcasts and their rotating presenters. Don't really like Friebe - I find him a bit smug.
I liked the ITV podcast more.

I think Mrs Moore is actually French though. I remember Lionel Birnie reviewing the meal they got at her parents' house last Tour.

The way Mrs Moore if indeed it is Mrs Moore (or whatever title and last name she goes by) says 'Rapha' is very sexy.

I'm just going to stick with the sexy French announcer lady from my imagination.

Yes, I'm sure she's lovely, but someone else's wife doesn't really work...

These things are entirely subjective. They obviously find each other sexy enough to marry each other.

Why am I even talking about this? Good god!

Think they all did an okay job. It seems the effort is largely there (with exception of Ciro, who seems to be a pure comedy foil). Often the actual analysis is rather lacking. It's just a brief recounting of the stage.

Of all the pundits I enjoy David Millar the most (On ITV4 and the ITV Sport podcast). He has the talent for talking and very good analysis. Only problem is, he just seems semi interested in actually doing the job. Probably feels overqualified. TV commentary wise the ITV4 commentary is the best by far imho.

Friebe is the best of the group. However, he often seems rather dour. Maybe that's just for me though.

I think of this group I enjoy Caley Fretz' guest appearances the most.
