I had Covid March 2020 (and we both have had long Covid issues since, my better half worse than I), this lurgy seemed to be a cold or flu, no "legit" Covid symptoms to warrant a test. Knocked me out all last week, went back to work on Tuesday, contemplating me first gentle turbo session after dinner or tomorrow.secretsam said:
Time for a test. You may be a latecomer to the party.N0bodyOfTheGoat said:Never taken a flu jab before in my life, very rarely get any sort of infection that might be flu, but employer gave everyone a free jab voucher for use at Lloyds pharmacy chain. Booked a slot in October, contacted day before to say they had no stock so jab was cancelled. No idea at this point where I got in from, been working as normal all through pandemic, but just called in sick with classic flu symptoms after starting to feel rough yesterday.

Disagreeing with Piers Morgan on nearly everything and thoroughly disliking him as a broadcaster, then simultaneously agreeing with his views on The Markles, but finding his flounce off the GMB set childish and petulant whilst wrestling with the idea that a weatherman sees it as his place to challenge the shows anchor. Conflicted much?0

Try and see it as choreography. The Mr Indignant routine probably feels a bit tired to regular viewers so they are ading the new dimension of a plucky underling standing up to him. They will conduct some audience research and decide if this becomes a regular feature.shortfall said:Disagreeing with Piers Morgan on nearly everything and thoroughly disliking him as a broadcaster, then simultaneously agreeing with his views on The Markles, but finding his flounce off the GMB set childish and petulant whilst wrestling with the idea that a weatherman sees it as his place to challenge the shows anchor. I used to not mind Piers Morgan but these days he’s a total bell end.
Either I was slow to catch on to what others have been saying for years or he has gone downhill.
I can’t decide how much of it is choreographed and how much he is simply playing to the populist agenda. I tend to feel he’s gone all in on shock jock rather than the show are staging it.
He is totally hypocritical and biased. He isn’t putting a personal spin on debates, he is very much agenda pushing.0 -
If it makes you feel better, lots of the people who have been praising him for his trying to hold the government to account over corona now disagree vehemently with his views on Megan.shortfall said:Disagreeing with Piers Morgan on nearly everything and thoroughly disliking him as a broadcaster, then simultaneously agreeing with his views on The Markles, but finding his flounce off the GMB set childish and petulant whilst wrestling with the idea that a weatherman sees it as his place to challenge the shows anchor. Weird how he manages to make it all about him.0

The main reason he's gone off on one about Meghan is that they used to be friends (or at least acquaintances) and she's since cut him out having realised what sort of person he is.shortfall said:Disagreeing with Piers Morgan on nearly everything and thoroughly disliking him as a broadcaster, then simultaneously agreeing with his views on The Markles, but finding his flounce off the GMB set childish and petulant whilst wrestling with the idea that a weatherman sees it as his place to challenge the shows anchor. Not even that. They've apparently only met once at some function and he seems to have taken that as them being friends.orraloon said:A friend? Or had he just hacked her phone?

The wife had him on this morning while I was having breakfast. He was saying exactly that and not claiming to be a friend. It was being foisted on him.rjsterry said:

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
He had a tweet that called her friend0

Well apparently Morgan has quit/was pushed who knows? About the only thing he's said that I agree with him on and he gets the sack. Whatever else you might say about him it's hard to see another host getting the ratings he does. I mean Susanna is a bit meh isn't she?0

Ah, see, I don't use Twitter and I see less and less reason to begin.shirley_basso said:He had a tweet that called her friend

That's his appeal. He's incendiary. Not sure why you would want to start your day watching that crap.shortfall said:Well apparently Morgan has quit/was pushed who knows? Feeds nicely into the GB News hands0 -
Who are GB news? Never heard of them?0

Hey, I get my news info from RT and Al Jazeera so I'm immune.0

I mean that piers Morgan being fired / whatever feeds nicely into their cancel culture rhetoric and the alt right viewpoint which galvanises their support.elbowloh said:Who are GB news? Never heard of them?

If Andrew Neil is building a a TV equivalent of Skwawkbox I think we'd both be quite surprised. While they're not on air yet, they've been setting out their stall for some time.ballysmate said:1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

tAKE I don't think Andrew Neil is going to be putting his name to anything like a UK version of Fox News either. For sure it's output is going to be right of centre but there's clearly a market for that. Surely some more plurality in broadcast news output is to be welcomed?rjsterry said:

Now he might understand why Harry and Meghan left to get away from the criticism. There's irony.2

He did that before (although for get away from criticism read get away from scrutiny and potential charges whilst getting loads of money thrown at you).kingstongraham said:Now he might understand why Harry and Meghan left to get away from the criticism. There's irony.
The wife used to watch GMB in the mornings before getting up for work. It had the benefit of getting me out of bed early. After one too many pandemic rants even she'd had enough so I get more lie ins now. He also managed to turn Susannah Reid from decent TV journo / presenter into a sort of bully's sidekick. He had the strange affect that even when I agreed with his view I would instinctively side with the person I disagreed with that he'd be ranting at.0 -
Well maybe but do you think that exists already? News editors decide which stories to run, what prominence to give them, which stuff to ignore or bury. Yes even the people behind the beloved and supposedly impartial BBC have agendas and biases.Wheelspinner said:
