Looks like froome exited because he was scared and he's not a great bike handler.

Yeah I mean they're in charge of the weather. He crashed before any cobbles.

The only disaster is that Contador hasn't gone down. It's good watching, it will be talked about for years.

Now the inquest will begin. Were we robbed of a classic tour due to a rainy day on the cobbles?
Except it wasn't on the cobbles where he crashed, no?

Sad sight to see Froome limping into the team car. Such a shame wiggo isn't in the team to take the reins!

    Break away onto the cobbles.

Never good to see a favourite out before the mountains...

They're not on cobbles yet, this could have happened on any flat stage.
Yes, this needs emphasising. Cobbles were irrelevant, this was just wet weather and you can't stop the Tour when it's wet.

He crashed three times in two days before ever setting wheel on a cobblestone. If we were robbed, it was by misfortune.

Sean just described it as "carn-age" which is an interesting pronunciation even by his usual high standards

This is not how Alberto Contador wanted to win the 2014 Tour.

Not good. But nothing to do with the cobbles.

That Wiggo bloke is pretty good on the cobbles. Pity he wasn't included in the team!

    A massive Brailsford FAIL!

    That's racing. I don't like him. I won't sugar coat it. He's not hurt, what's the problem?
Of course he's hurt. Celebrating someone crashing is the lowest you can sink. You are an absolute complete d*ck.

I dont believe this. Complete an utter awfulness. I really dislike the guy but removing him from the competition because ASO wanted to boost viewing figures is a complete disaster.

Ok if Contador nails this he nails this and takes 8. But it would have been SO much better if he nailed this against Froome. In a wonderfully mountainous Tour.

Who the fuck knows though whether half the other GC contenders get taken out.

VUELTA will have the best field EVER

Maybe Nibali can put a few minutes into Contador today and make a race of this thing yet!

Hurt enough to pull out of the Tour. You're being a dickhead if you're enjoying it. But carry on if that's your thing.
