Oh what a shame. Two trackies take it. Maybe next time Armitstead - you looked wonderful in the kit this year.

The laps course was very much a crit course and not a road race, Armitstead tried a lot but tbh didn't have a chance on that circuit if she hadn't shook them before.

Armitstead is also a trackie, but a less annoying one

presumably Lizzie was hampered as a solo break, whereas the wigglettes could work together to pull her back in, still at what point do people stop calling them just trackies, finished 2nd/3rd last year, 1st/2nd this year, it cant always be just luck.

True, although Armitstead does have a much more impressive road palmares. Granted she is a few years older than King and Trott, but it does seem that she's now a roadie/trackie and not the other way round.

People will probably stop calling them trackies when they do something significant on the world road race scene - highest end of year rankings (using CQranking.com) they've achieved is Dani King 95th and Laura Trott 110th. May do much more in the future but evidence suggests they're using road to keep fit for the track.

So if BW and MC are out, who is left worthy of the jersey?

Wasn't referring to Lizzie Armitstead who has long since transferred full time to the road. As I said Trott may go on to have a long road career - at the moment she appears to be a trackie dabbling.

Ben Swift and Adam Yates are having fine seasons. Kennaugh has been on the podium four times before. Thomas will always shows well in the big races.

She's dabbling pretty well if she's just won the nationals FFS.

Summary: We don't want trackies to win on the road until they've won on the road. Can't help agreeing with you BigMat that it's a touch circular. And I thought it was track fans that liked things that go round in circles.

As far as I understand the Brit race is pre decided anyway but luckily this year it is not an all Sky affair.

From that group...two speeds between the other 150 riders...I hope on of the Yates takes it.

Team Sky's Geraint Thomas has launched solo chase to front group, he's a minute behind them. Scott Davies dropped from leaders #RoadChamps

G is bridging solo and looking monster. 1.05 behind. None of the Sky boys seem to be working now in front group. Yates bro's pulling it...
