It does look a bit much. All those Sky Riders. I remember Nicole Cooke getting ganged up by weaker riders and Armistead winning. Same thing happened to her yesterday, a bit of justice me thinks.
I do think it's a bit of a farce. Riders in these events should just ride for themselves and no team orders or jerseys allowed even though I doubt that would stop it.

For everyone moaning about Sky (but mainly FF), do you not remember last year? They don't always have it all their own way.

Never going to happen as long as the riders spend virtually every other day of the year racing for their team. Why potentially p*ss off the people you have to ride with/for all year, or who you expect to ride for you in events you probably care more about than this one?

One of the other problems is the inclusion of U23s in the main race.

As soon as a decent break goes with a few foreign based pros the Brit conti teams start to refocus on trying to get a result for their u23s rather than working together to try to close the gap. In fact, some have probably developed that strategy before leaving the hotel!

it is very true about there not being the strength in depth in UK that they have in Belgium, France etc they have pro and amateur nationals, if you did that in the UK you would barely have 20 guys on the start line for the pro race. It probably boils down to the amateur scene being so poor, the amount of Prems we have compared to Elite Nationals and coup de France rounds they have in France is laughable.

You can't knock the top level of the UK world tour pros but with the academy now being based in Manchester and not Italy I don't think the 'conveyer belt' will carry on and riders will be back to going it alone to Europe or riding for domestic teams like Scott Davies and hopefully that will give them the platform they need

The UK doesn't really have any history of road racing so it's hardly surprising, but given where we were even quite recently there has been a shift up and it's ridiculous to lay the blame at the door of the track programme or SKY.
All the people on here moaning about it rather than getting out and racing probably doesn't help
