I would have liked the understated look from the canyon finishing. But am fine with the bike. Ive had it a few months now and ridden under 700 miles in it.

Still feels great, but have suffered a little seat post slippage. Couldn't figure it out last week why my back started hurting a little and then it dawned on me that I was down by about 1cm. So its back up to where it should be.

I sometimes worry about the toe overlap especially when trying to track stand on some of the smaller roads when going uphill to let traffic by. Only happened once, but had to dodge a car coming the opposite way and had to turn sharply but only just clipped my shoe a little to give me a wobble.

After a while you need to strip down a clean the parts as the rear hub and BB area can get quite gritty and can hear that sound, but that would be with all bikes since I have been riding out in all weathers. But I tend to give the bike a wipedown after a heavy downpour.

In order to stop road dirt sticking onto the paint, I layered a light layer of car wax onto the paintwork and chain protection strip. Which makes cleaning the frame a lot easier. I would have probably done this when I first got it, now I will need to use some light abrasive to remove the wax applied to have a perfect finish.

The rims have held up well and still true, but have had 2 puncture since. Deciding what to replace the wheels with for the summer. I have been meaning to look for a new set after selling my old Mavic Ksyriums off. My rolfs are something I have thought about, but have since loaned them on a long term basis to my brother who is 74 kg.

Brakes will probably need replacing at some point after the winter period and a full strip down come springtime.

I have thought about adding some 3M black reflective strips on the rear frame part as this has now become my commuting bike :)

I received mine this morning, quickly assembled it and went out for a 45km ride. I'll start with the no-so-positive:
    - Bike has two small kinks on the frame, one down at the front dropouts and one by the side of the downtube on the letter 'C'. None of them are really offensive, but it could easily be a case of complain and a frame swap. I can't be bothered though. They are of little significance, even though they could potentially affect the resale value of the bike.
    - Both brake calipers were not set up properly. Blocks were a bit out of alignment with the wheel and (especially the rear) needed rotation.
    - Both wheels are a little out of true. Nothing major, they're just not exactly straight, which would not be detectable if there wasn't for the brakes issue.

You buy a 'new' bike for it to be new not knackered. I'd have sent it back. That is not good enough. A damaged frame and kinked wheels out of the box. :?
  • Do these frames have enough clearance for full mudguards?

I have a set of Crud Roadracers which I have sized up and look like they will go on just fine.
  • Ta, i'd like to run 25's and raceblades....

Not tried Raceblades as they seem to be difficult to get hold of. Roadracers and 25s (GP4S) seem like they would be okay though.

Yet to properly fit them and test them though as I'm running a 10 mile race tomorrow and need stay rested.
  • Do these bikes also have 'standard' size stems?

Same clamp size as CF SL and CF SLX at 1.25'', Alu one is standard 1.125'' though according to site info.

Im using raceblade longs on mine and only kept the rears for now.
Granted that sometimes they can rattle and need some tinkering to get it right.

Else it locks the tyre in place which is a frustrating :)

I had my canyon endurace delivered to me today :D

Awesome bike and great packaging (you gotta order one to see). Can't wait to take it out for a ride this weekend. This will be ridden around here in Malaysia.

Any one in Australia wanting to own a canyon bike but otherwise can't due to shipping restriction you may contact me and we can get it arranged.

    Cheers.
  • Hello all,

My Canyon Endurance CF 8.0 arrived the other day so I thought I'd share my experience.

My previous bike was a carbon Cube Agree with full Ultegra. I liked it but never quite felt it was right for me.

So, after assembling (Great fun) the Canyon I took it out for a spin today.
All I can say is WOW! What a difference. The bike feels really solid, very quick, light, stiff but also super smooth. It is also a much better climber than my last one. I was very impressed. I even set a few PB's on Strava without even trying...

I put my Mavic Ksyriums on the bike straight away so don't know how the DT Swiss wheels ride but with the Mavics the bike is awesome and for such value! I was wondering how going from Ultegra to 105 would be but this new groupset is fantastic. So smooth and not a problem whatsoever.

Don't know why they've put a 11-32 cassette on the bike as I was running out of gears a few times. Would prefer a 11-28 setup but that's just me.

The only negative for me is the saddle. After 45 min I could barely sit on it. I will be going back to my Specialized but again that's just personal preference.

I'm a tall guy, 6.5 (195cm) with looooong legs and the 2Xl fits me great!
And, the bike easily takes mudguards as per the picture.

I'm really happy with the purchase and it was a pleasure dealing with Canyon.

    Cheers
  • Considering going from my Specialized Roubaix to one of these. I have done a fair few KMs on my Roubaix and i want to upgrade.
Just wondering how much different the two bikes are. They are both obviously aimed at the endurance/ sportive end of the market with more comfortable geometry. I have read however, that the Endurance CF is not quite as relaxed as the Roubaix in terms of geometry is this correct? Im not flexible so struggle to get 'aero' without discomfort.

Lastly if i was to order one what size? i ride 54cm roubaix with a 100mm stem and that is a good fit. So i am guessing either the small or medium. One thing i really don't like is toe overlap, i know most of the time its not a problem but I'm not used to it and i have sold a bike because i found it annoying, would a Small/ Medium frame suffer from this?

    Thanks

Does anyone know if the VCLS 2.0 seat post on the Endurace CF, can use carbon rail saddles?

Example, Fizik R3 or R1 saddles that have carbon braided rails?

I've been looking at the Roubaix range but I didn't think the spec was all that good for the price so was looking around and came across the Endurace.

I'm currently debating whether to go for the 8.0 with the 105 groupset or to splash out the extra cash and just go for the 9.0SL with the full Dura-Ace groupset. I can't help but think that with the 8.0 I'd be looking to upgrade bits and bobs like the wheels and it would be false economy compared to just getting the 9.0SL and not needing to change anything.

I would agree with some about the seat not being as comfy. I changed mine after a few days as I didnt get on with it.

Size depends on how you ride and your dimensions. I bought a Medium and I am 5'9 and requested a 110 stem and it fits great. I sat on a small previously and it just felt too huddled up.
I dont think you will struggle as you will find this bike is very comfy. You can flip the stem.

In regards to saddle rails, best drop an email to canyon? They will answer within a day or two.

The 105 was the ideal entry for me, but I liked the look of the red and opted for that. I didnt go full Dura, as this is my daily ride as we have 2 kids and I couldn't warrant having 2 bikes ( as I wanted Ultimate CF for summer bike and AL version for daily.

Whichever you will get its fantastic value for money and riding experience. But for me if you are keeping the bike clean at all times then the Dura will work for you, but if you clock up the miles I would look at costs for replacement bits for the groupset you have chosen.

My choices were to build a roubaix, vs a ribble. Or to buy a S3, but I am very glad I opted for the Endurace.

I'm in the exact same thougts. Thing is i want the 9.0 with ultegra and the good wheels but they ship in 20 weeks. That's a lot of time... I'm also in quite a bad shape and would feel like such a dumbass averaging 25km/h on a full dura ace bike being passed by kids on their mountain bikes

I went with the 8.0 with the 105 groupset in the end.
If the 11 speed 105 is as good as people say then it won't be needing upgraded at all and I can get a nice set of wheels to upgrade the standard DT Swiss ones it has for around £500 or so and it'll be good to go!

Do you get toe overlap from the front wheel?

congrats and welcome to the club! did you order the meteor grey colour? probably the last one as it's now sold out.

I have another bike with a shimano 105 that is 20 years old so I could say the 5800 groupo is a much improvement. Well definitely. Also had a 105 groupo 2005 model. So possibly I'm riding a dura ace of past. can't ask for more.
  • 5ft 9 83cm inseam! is medium going to be the right size? Whats the stand over hight? and with 83cm inseam will i have enough seat post showing?

I am about to buy my first road bike, up until now I have ridden an MTB which has slowly been adapted for road use due to injury. I think a sportive style bike would suit me best (mainly as my neck flexion, ie looking up, so that I am looking in front of me, rather than at the bars is poor).

I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Roubaix, Synapse or an Endurace, but concerned about not being able to try one out first.

The bike I currently ride is a 2008 StumpJumper HT, which has quite a racy position (ie longish top tube), and looking at the geometry these sportive bikes are actually more upright. Should I risk going for the Canyon without even sitting on one, or would it make sense to pay more for the Synapse/Roubaix and actually get a test ride on one first?

    Current bike geometry:
Seat Tube Length - Center to Top: 432mm
    Top Tube Length (Horizontal): 585mm
    Top Tube Length (Actual): 563mm
    Chainstay Length: 424mm
    Bottom Bracket Height: 304mm
    Seat Tube Angle: 73 deg
    Head Tube Angle: 70.5 deg
    Wheel Base: 1064mm
    Standover Height: 759mm
    Head Tube Height: 120mm
    Handlebar Width: 580mm
    Stem Length: 90mm 0deg rise
    Crank Length: 175mm
    Seatpost Length: 350mm

Bit the bullet, and ordered the Ritchey clad CF8 meteor grey/cyan in S (based on their PPS), it is showing as from stock, so hopefully won't be too long a wait :)
