You keep saying this. In fact you mean "it is the way my life is" ; deluded, and spent, evidently, with seriously deficient people.

Would you rather me apologise for that ?
Why would you suggest wealthy people as deficient ? are you suggesting they are deluded ?
They may well be, deluded in the way they do not realise how people struggle on pennies but wouldn't that be the same as those people on pennies deluded as to how different life is when your loaded ?

If you fancy a social experiment I would gladly run with it.

If you drive I will arrange for you to drive to a restaurant (random to make it fair) both in a cr4pper and then in a super car, if the way you are treated is no different ill take it back. Fancy it ? Maybe a bit of fun, who knows :)

Yes, I've read the "the receptionist wouldn't see the car" but thats a comment made by someone who hasn't stopped at a high end hotel (no offence meant, just the way it is) as the bellhop of a decent place will be the one informing reception of the clients arrival.

Again, I'm not saying its fair, but it is the way life is.

Am I the only one here who has heard of the saying money goes to money ?

Dude, you have no idea what you're on about. There isn't a single high end hotel in Vegas where you can see outside the entrance from reception (in fact it goes against convention in both styling and practice for any modern hotel/resort), and to think that the valet will communicate your ride to reception shows how little you know of the industry. Mentioning the bellhop is idiotic as if you use one you clearly haven't arrived in a super car (hardly known for trunk space). Also, no one who owns a super car drives it to Vegas, 99% are rentals or belong to locals who aren't checking in. If anything they're just going to think you're a massive douche.

Comps in hotels are given to those on loyalty programs or those who spend a lot of money (high rollers in casinos and those looking to plan an event at the locale), but no self respecting concierge is going to upgrade on a punt because you have a nice car.

I know you because I've dealt with hundreds of guys like you. Hell, 10 years ago I was you. The drivel you spout isn't close to being original and although you want to believe that your motivation was innocent, deep down you started this topic to feed your ego. So take the criticism as it comes, because it's not wrong.

Gumball3000 has NEVER caused an accident, only people can do that and if someone wants to drive like a loon then they will do so.

Wooooh, hang on a minute.... did you not just criticise me for sweeping generalisations by saying Gumballers drive like twats, but then you say in the next breath, all Cops are looking to shaft each other to get ahead...?

You could at least be consistent... Consistently wrong, but at least consistent....

And Gumball has never caused an accident...? Well there was the double fatal where a gumballer wiped out a couple of pensioners... But if you think that when a load of egos and testosterone get on the same bit of road driving a variety of supercars, it's not going to affect their driving, then you're either frighteningly naïve or just plain stupid...

I stalked Vtech on 'tinternet.... and I think he lives in an online fantasy world. From what I could gather he remaps ECU's.... yes, on supercars, but still someone you go to when you want to sort your car. So I'm not sure all these supercars he talks about are actually his, they would seem to belong to customers.

It has been said on here by policeman in a previous thread that a worry is the job not looking after you so I stick with what I say. You are not covered when in the police force and a worry is the constant "look over your shoulder" syndrome, to argue that must mean your not front line on the beat ?

As for Grill above, I know a lot about Vegas, various books actually suggest that concierge run vegas, they run almost all of the "tip offs" and if you want anything in vegas these are the go to guys.
The best hotels don't pay them a salary, they PAY for the job and live off the tips.
Also, I've stated countless times that I work for the rich, the cars I work on are owned by the rich and Ive never suggested otherwise. Only the cars I own have I ever said are my own. Ive no need to say otherwise as there isn't really a car I want that I couldn't buy (other than a nice 250)

My sister is a radiographer, I think people in the forces and medical profession through the NHS are not looked after, same as the armed forces. It is of course only my opinion but it is shared my many others.

But your suggestion was that everyones partner was out to stitch them up to get ahead....

And ANY police officer will confirm that... apparently. Which is a tad different from 'not looked after'.

You're wrong. You think you may know about Vegas, but my 20+ trips, the events I've run in several resorts, and my many friends in the hospitality industry prove it. Concierges are employed by the hotel/resort and are paid a moderate wage. Like most service industries in the US, they will make more with tips, but they are not independent contractors. The liability for the hotel/resort is far too great. Strippers (of which there are thousands in Vegas) to work and make everything in tips.

Sounds to me like someone has been blowing smoke up your ass and you've taken it as gospel.

Sorry, but the books are wrong. The whole idea of Concierges running a parallel business which is self funding is very 1980s.
On another point, in fairness to Vtech, he has always been very clear that he works on the cars of rich people, hes never claimed ownership of them. But I still don't understand the "I rock up in my rented Ferrari and get a free upgrade". You rock up, hand your keys to the car park attendant, or alternatively the receptionist offers to take your car and get it parked for you, either of whom see you've got one of Hertz´s finest and immediately mark you out as a tool."who ordered the ceasar salad with the extra yellowy-green sticky bits in it?".

Its a shame not many people viewing this thread seem to have visited or know much about vegas.
The only difference between vegas of the 80's and 10's is the frontage, they are still idealistically the same.
Hookers work with the hotels, the concierge get you what your after and the $100 in the passport is almost certainly going to guarantee an upgrade (see, I've given another one here).
In a way its a good thing people don't know about or refuse to believe these things happen. The world is still flat to some.

I think that the answer to that question is a resounding yes.

Do the police over here even have "partners"? (I know lots of them are married or in long-term relationships, I mean in the American detective sense) And Colin, if you do indeed have a partner, which of you is the gruff older guy and which one is the wisecracking youngster?

This is quite true. And, one of the reasons I wouldn't report a post to the moderators. It's banter and rarely gets to a personal level so shouldn't really be blocked or locked. It's very clear to most that read these posts that the arguments are aimed at me rather than the point which was being made and the ironic thing is that those arguing with me rarely do so because they disagree but more because they fancy a bit of VTech too-and-fro.
If I was the kind of person who was happy to trawl back through the forums old posts it would be easy to show how many people share the same opinions as me when it suits and then change when I do so.

It's fun for me, I guess a little bit of a ADHD syndrome which has always caused me to lose attention with what I'm doing so when I get bored I find great fondness of the posts here which is why I'm not really on here on a daily basis. When I work abroad I miss this place and am always happy to come back to where im loved.

The whole idea of wealth allowing you to step up over the heads of other people is repulsive to me.

A great example is the rich families who 'hire' a disabled person for the day when they go to Disneyland so that they can jump all the queues. (True story(s))

When I was trading we went to fancy restaurants and top hotels - I wish we hadn't - I feel like I missed a chunk of my youth. We were always surrounded by boring old farts with money as their only 'virtue'.

Maybe the 100$ bill in the passport does get you an upgrade, but I can bet you that secretly, the receptionist who is on about £15 000 a year is secretly thinking 'w&**(r'.

Not sure what you mean by this? Why should they be 'looked after'? Plenty of people have jobs that are not as well paid or with little or no pensions, they are the people that are not looked after in my book, not someone with a guaranteed job and pension.

What I find odd is people having a go at me about it. I can't help the fact that the world is as it is. Money talks, we can argue as much as we like about it, it changes nothing. I have never said it is right or just, I have only stated that it is what it is.
On a personal level, I would chose the best over the worst, hang me for it but thats me. If I were offered an upgrade or could afford premium or upper over coach then I would take it. Just as I would take coach if I was broke. Not so long ago I was on my aRs and still ate food, still fed the wife and son and still struggled along. The idea that some have argued on this thread that perceived wealth doesn't open doors is lunacy, written by those who have sadly not had the chance to sample the other side.

The problem is that even though you are not saying it's 'right or just', you appear to be condoning in it by actively partaking in said activities yourself. And the absence of any condemnation speaks volumes.

If we turn up at the same restaurant, both unknown to the restaurant, you in a Ferrari and me in a normal car, and you are given the best table and me a crap one, I would consider that unfair, unethical and somewhat stupid, as I could be a Nobel Prize Winner and you a Mafia crime boss. Also, were I the 'upgradee' I would feel somewhat embarrassed vis a vis my fellow diners.

There is classy wealth, and there is showy, crass wealth. Some of the most impressive people I've ever met are those that keep their wealth discreetly hidden and are polite and highly ethical and civilised. Noone likes a showoff.
