No I had it left over from when I used to have XTR on my Bronson. Its a direct mount mech hanger for use with Shimano shadow mechs and it gets rid of the knuckle on the XTR mech.0 -
Looks a lot neater.
Have you seen the Fox 36 adapter to 203mm rotors? Ordered the Hope 160mm to 183mm myself but may see if I can pick one up while in NY in a few weeks.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -

Perhaps this is off-topic (and I do not want to hijack your tread) but I would like to ask whether you have considered other frames before settling for SC Nomad?
If so, what have you taken into consideration when choosing this one?
Nope, only considered the Nomad as I was coming off a Bronson carbon. If I was to buy again I would probably buy a YT Industries Capra Pro and strip off the BOS suspension and Mavic wheels or a Canyon Strive frame and build both to the same spec as this.
Are you saying you would replace the BOS suspension? How so? Have you had a chance to ride it before? I am not questioning this comment, but I am interested in your reasoning. I have heard lots about BOS, both very good and very bad, so it would be interested to hear your opinion.
In terms of Capra, I always wondered how the suspension of both frame (Capra and Nomad) compares.0 -

Servicing is the reason I would sell it, although I am sure the product is very good I would not want something that I have problems getting serviced and or parts replaced on.0 -

Yes I have one waiting for me in New York for collection next Thursday (Universal cycles have them in stock) along with a Angleset for the Solo and a bunch of 10mm Fox reducers. One for this and 4 for the other Fox 36 I now have for the Solo0 -

Getting on with the 36 at last then? Reducing travel for the Nomad or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
I'm getting an adapter sorted for when I'm there the week after. Gonna drop into Sid's for a mooch.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -

Don't get me wrong, my mate loves it on his Capra but I just want stuff I can get serviced in the UK easily.BloggingFit wrote:Getting on with the 36 at last then? Reducing travel for the Nomad or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Yes really loving the 36 now, I've finally cracked it I think. Had a chat with a number of people and most seem to run it at 160mm not the 170mm I have on mine so I am going to give it a try.0 -
Seems two blue spacers, running HSC pretty open and LSC a little more towards the closed side works for people.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0

IIRC I have the following setup (all settings are from fully closed):
One blue spacer,
20 Clicks of HSC,
12 clicks of LSC,
15 clicks of rebound.tatankainlondon wrote:I fully agree with you. I think Capra is a lovely bike too. BOS is awesome but, as with any high spec suspension, it needs regular maintenance and servicing. I read somewhere that BOS has now chosen a new importer and service provider but I cannot remember which company it was.
Yes they use Jungle now but having not bought the bike from a UK shop I guess they might have issues with warranty on the items. Also with TF Tuned having tried and failed to make BOS work I cannot see what any other distributor can offer that they could not.0 -

Back on topic of your bike: what was the reason for mixing XTR with XX1? I have been off the bike scene for some time and only now I am catching up so school me like a kindergarden kid0 -

The SRAM 1x1 cassette has a better range, 10/42 rather than 11/40 so for that reason I'd rather run the SRAM cassette.0 -
How about XX1 vs XTR rear mech/shifter?0

Shimano has a more quality feel about the shifting IMHO, Sram always feels a little cheap and plasticky.0 -

I think it is less expensive too (CRC prices).
Any news pics of your ride?0 -
Got some new wheels coming next week for the Nomad which will free up the ENVE's for the Solo. Bits for them should be landing at the wheel builders tomorrow all been well as everything was in stock with his suppliers. I think I made his day when I ordered them!0

What have you gone for mate?? Or is it a wait and see jobbo?0

Nothing exciting really, pretty much more of the same lol, different hubs this time though just because I could  .0 -

New 70's and Chris King hubs perhaps?Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0

BloggingFit wrote:New 70's and Chris King hubs perhaps?
Yep how did you guess lol
CK's, 70Thirtys and CX-ray spokes. Bits all arrived at the builder today. Heavier than the ones I have now but fancied some CK for a change.
Chinese carbon wheels I have can have mud tyres on for either this or the solo. Saves messing around with stans sealant.0 -
Nothing wrong with that. Fancied them myself but the durability of 240's prevailed in the end and the 350's on the Hardtail have so far impressed me.
Sticking with HR2's for now?Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -

I ran it last on a DHF/HR2 combo and that was pretty good but with the slop I have some WTB Vigilantes on it at the moment. Kind of wish I had got two Maxxis Shorty's though!0 -

I'd have 240s every time over Kings. Was really disappointed with my King hubs. They're heavy, draggy, need lots of maintenance and were a different colour to my headset, which looked a bit shit. Shame really, as their aesthetic was their major selling point.0 -

I just fancied a change, I have three lots of DT240s wheels and a set of Zipps on CK's on one road bike. Will see what they are like but I know it will sound like a angry wasp when free wheeling0 -

Getting good feedback although a bit heavy for my liking as a general purpose tyre. Do they do a 650b version? Happy with DHF / DHR2 combo at the moment and curious to see how they go once it starts to dry up.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0 -
Looked at the 27.5" shorty this morning and the 3C 2.3 comes in at around 800g so pretty much the same as Minion and HR2. Liked the look of the profile and height is the same as the others but will stick with Minions for the Nomad as it'll be used more in dryer conditions. I may look to try them out next Winter on the Hardtail.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0
