Wow! That looks amazing! Good job.
Is it just me or that I'm an old fashioned boy at heart but looking at yours and Tom's Nomads on here I'm really not digging the black stanchions at all...think I'm the only person that thinks they look a bit..meh
Also - agree with Lawman, there's plenty life left in that tyre - I'd be getting the whole of this season and next out of that!
Amazing build though. Great stuff."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Thanks.
I've got a nice little parcel waiting for me when I get home0 -

What would that be then? For this bike or the solo?0 -

I'd take Cedrics if they gave it to me for free. I'd also take Cedrics if it gave me his bike skills.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
Lovely looking bike Rick!
On a side note, is that a quartz crankset on your sl4?0 -

Thanks.
It's a S-Works chainset with a carbon spider and Praxis rings.0 -
Will say what i think here,
Previous VPP i have ridden are simply ok IMO, but the geometry sounds pretty much bang on IMO so should ride well, But i find santa cruz rather dull looking if I'm honest...
I approve of your component choices mind and i know this will validate your life :P(teasing here)0 -

So you don't like SC's and I don't dig black stanchions...think we're def in a minority!"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I've never ridden an SC or a VPP bike.. All I can say is reviewers seem to like them and most importantly they look good
I think RockShox have done the right thing with the black stanchions.. Makes them stand out
If you saw gold stanchions you'd always think Fox or maybe Marzocchi
Now if you see black you think Rockshox
Or Emerald you'd think DVO0 -

Not hate they just aren't that special a ride...0 -
I loved the look of the old Nomad and generally I'm diggin Santa Cruz bikes as a brand (I've never ridden one) and there's no doubting Rick's bike here looks sweeeetej2320 wrote:I think RockShox have done the right thing with the black stanchions.. Makes them stand out

Yeah - agree, from a marketing point of view they've made a great decision with the black and I really like the idea of black stanchions but I think you lose some of the industrial look that you get with metallic colours - saying that, I truly hate the silver stanchions on my Domains and would happily have black over silver"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I know what you mean, the silver with a hint of gold on forks like the Reba Gold were quite nice but very common with other brands
And the shiney silver reminds me of the cheap forks you get on £100 bikes0 -

Out of interest - what bikes do you consider a special ride? I haven't a wide variety of experience in terms of bike brands ridden but I am enjoying my Bronson and I love the attitude/marketing profile of SC, like the Syndicates approach to racing and generally feel that SC say mountain biking to my mind.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
probably his own mondraker rune0

Could you summarise the main differences between the Santa Cruz bikes you have and have had?

Well I'd be an idiot buying it if I didn't think that. Otherwise I'd have a different bike.0 -

And how does the Rune differ ride wise from a Bronson or other VPP?Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -

From now on unless something incredible happens wight he other manufacturers I won't ever be buying another new shock for any bike made by anyone other than Cane Creek, it really is truly amazing.
The Pike however is getting on my nerves in a big way!0 -

Nice. Did you put it on the scales before you installed it? - what sort of weight is it, looks like a beastRick Draper wrote:The Pike however is getting on my nerves in a big way!
