Fine profile for opportunistic GC chancers. Shame there's a crucial TT tomorrow. Two Hundred and forty nine kilometres of

Great photo. Would make a good avi.

“This is the second time I’ve ridden the Giro but, this time. I’ve taken three stage wins. I feel that the spectators are starting to recognise me and encourage me from the roadside,” he said. “It’s a great pleasure when they call out my name. In the mountains, I think they’ll push me and encourage me, because they’ll recognise the Maglia Rossa.”

Would love to see Evans having a dig over the last climb and going for it on the decent.

This should be good shouldn't it. I mean no GC action but you would think there will be a load of riders who fancy a stage win today.

Surely it will be a panache-fest.

I was imagining that scenario and nearly went with the trusty old goat for PTP for that very reason.

I think this could be a dramatic stage. it would be a good day to attack Evans. Don't forget Evans would have to ride just as hard if he has to chase anything down. You have to take a chance and be brave if you want to pull back the time Evans has got. Those GC guys who are going to get their ass kicked tomorrow may as well go for it today.
The more easy rides they give Evans the easier he will be able to control the last week.
  • With the 4km of flat at the end the few seconds that could be gained by any GC guys will likely be nullified. We can always hope for bad weather now Matthews has gone home, that'd liven up the descent and encourage someone to try and split the GC run-in.

    WWND?

    What Would Nietzsche Do?

He'd look how he's languishing in 18 place and think he needs to pick up some maximum points and so thought while Evans was probably a solid bet for a top 10, he really needs to pick a winner and so plumped for Swift given his recent showing at MSR.

Actually Nietzsche would have done nothing of the sort. He'd probably see PTP as far too systematic.

Another top quality PTP graph. Today is the today for the reigning PTP Giro champ to assert himself.

Hansen or Kiyrienka from a breakaway. Pozzovivo to try and grab some seconds on the final climb.

What sort of gap would you need to hold off the chasers over that last 4km? Would 1min do it?

More bad luck for Garmin Sharp - a crash at KM 23 spells the end of the Giro for Fabian Wegmann. No breakaway yet on stage 11.

One minute would be more than enough. Especially as there's unlikely to be a particularly organised chase. I reckon a breakaway with a minute's lead over the top of the final climb has a better than evens chance.

And here it is. Had forgotten it was 40K+. Every chance of taking a packet if you're slightly off the pace. Great stage for a non-GC TT specialist, another bunch of engines saving legs today.

What they’ll pass about 500 m short of the top of the Passo Cento Croci.

Geniez, Quemenuer and Roche are the next to give it a try. BMC is doing its best to keep everything under control.

These riders have 32secs and Arredondo is there along with three Europcar and three Bardiani. Arredondo picked up the top points.
