Hmm just had a look at his results for this year - they are pretty decent. Flying low on the radar but may prove to be a great riders next year.

Not a bad deal when you can get a 27 year old with so much strength. I said elsewhere that the WT teams should be snapping up Wanty riders. Their work ethic was amazing in the first part of the season.

    So they're right then.

I hope you're not going to neglect the black Africans in favour of mediocre Europeans - that's what makes your team interesting. Otherwise you're just a cut price Europcar.

Gazzetta reckon that Betancur is off to OPQS and Kiserlovski is another going to Saxo

Betancur at AG2R always seemed an odd fit, not sure that OPQS seems much more likely maybe it helps with their hilly classics squad.

I've lost track on here but has the Gazetta rumour of Basso to Tinkoff been mentioned?

It was the very first post! But since then nothing, although I have seen it in a few places.

Tinkoff said there would be an announcement today and tomorrow. Today's is that Saxo will continue for a year. Maybe we will hear it tomorrow.

12 Africans on team for next year and will always remain a major part of the team.

All of Oleg's BS tweets about Sagan signing for someone else, despite him having signed for him really put me off him. Just a massive attention-wh@re. It's not funny or clever at all.

Yes but he's built the hype - he's not a billionaire for nothing! So maybe it is a bit clever

    :D

I actually googled him *after* posting that and he's worth a fair bit more than I had thought. Still not a billionaire though, and he's *still* a massive tit.

“It is very great news, and expected, but I’m happy that it’s now official,” Contador said in a statement released by Tinkoff-Saxo. “Apart from the good relationship we have between us, Peter is also a great rider and a natural born winner. I’m sure that Peter’s arrival will lead to some great things on the team.”

“We are perfectly compatible and together we can ensure that Tinkoff-Saxo plays an important and noticeable role in most of the races on the calendar,” Contador said. “Peter is a super talent that I believe will fit very well in the team. We are all delighted to welcome him and to have him riding with us the coming years, because he will adapt very quickly to the way we work.”

Saxo will welcome the bloke from the funny farm

How will that work? Contador needs a whole team around him to Sherpa him up the mountains. How many teams that are divided between a sprinter and a climber have worked in the past (Cav at Sky?) or are SaTi hoping Sagan can grind out results with the minimal assistance (like he can) without a big lead out train?

Sagan isn't a sprinter in the Cavendish type mould. He's one for different stages. This year, on the stages that suited him the other teams left everything to Cannondale - That won't happen at Tinkoff so might benefit him.

Makes sense and when he does have a (albeit weak) team at his disposal he burns them out too quickly.

It seems that Nicolas Roche could leave the team, with Team Sky apparently keen to sign the Irishman.

"It's strange because we have three or four guys from Team Sky who are coming to us," Tinkov hinted mischievously.

"It seems like we're on an opposite trajectory. We're going up and they're going down. So if I were him, I wouldn't jump ship. But it's his decision. He's Irish and so maybe he feels better on an Anglo-Saxon team."

Breschel got given another year. Surprised with that. Maybe just because he is a Dane and has experience even if he has not got the legs.

He's a solid classics rider. Good support for Sagan.
