Spitfire it is!! I've got one at home complete with a film cannister. I thought about trying to get the film developed (could be a WW2 dogfight :D ) but figured it is best left as a mystery (more likely to be a few test shots or a time expired film :( )

problem with that sort of film (probably) is it degrades over time, so it might only ever be a mystery!

Giraffoto your turn. Thankfully Piña seems to have taken his marbles elsewhere.

Wassup? What's going on? Who shouted something about marbles? Is it tea time?

    It's a marble launching device.

    Approximate scale please?

It's not a marble launching device. It's about 135mm long, and made almost entirely of steel.

Is that red cap just simply a protective cover or does it have a function?

Does the top part slide out or is it threaded?

The red cap is a protective cover, and there should be one in the other end as well. Each end is threaded (internally) with a huge coarse thread.

It's not stainless, and at the risk of appearing pedantic, there's more to it than just connecting the pipes :)

Really! Um... If you pull that collar in the middle to the right, it releases the bit on the left?

Yes, it's a quick release coupling, and yes, you slide the collar. But (1) what does it couple together and (2) what happens - or rather, doesn't happen - when you disconnect it?

Automatic isolation on both fittings, I'm guessing. God knows what the working fluid is. Refrigerant?

You see, if you had 2 marbles and stuffed them in the ends of each pipe, you wouldn't need this fancy contraption.

Not compressed air. It might be more obvious if you held it in your hand - it's very, very strong :)
