    SA80 "Small Arm for the 80s", a variant of the 1950s EM2, which the British Army are still using in the 21st Century. Strange how so much money is thrown at developing weaponry and yet it never seems to change much..............

    I think the money goes into making it lighter and actually, protection - keeping it lightweight, mobile and non-restrictive. As far as it goes, the SA80 is meant to be pretty good (but a bit heavy)

    It doesn't touch the ground and the underside affixes (permanently) to something else which also doesn't touch the ground.
