Fair enough. He has Petacchi and the master Renshaw. Expect a lot more. He should be able to win with no train.Contador is the Greatest0 -

And Cav's own skills at doing that on occasions might have created the impression that he can do so anytime he wants. Not so.
The guys who are supposed to look after him failed to do their job properly in my humble view0 -

If the entire team is focused on the sprint train to the exception of all else (eg Lotto, Giant), they're probably quite handy at shedding freelancers. I think it's tough to compete against genuine train specialists....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
FOR SALE:
One fast bike.
One mostly careful owner.
Needs some attention.0 -
I'm sure at one point Cav was trying to come through on Kwai's wheel with about 1.5k to go. Doesn't seem like the wheel you'd want in a sprint.0

Cheers.
Not many people have won a bunch sprint when the big three have been present. Although obviously one was mostly bike smashing rather than sprinting.0 -

Didn't he leave his previous team due to wanting a team more dedicated to supporting him?
Aaaaaand there we have the little bit of a problematic situation in which Cav finds himself
Last year he had no threat whatsoever in terms of pecking order and competition for support because Boonen was out for most of the season, and OPQS had no big GC guys.
Now he has a resurgent Boonen, and not just 1 but 2 GC guys who want to win big
He's in a bind0 -

Just watched it, I thought Cav might have had a chance, he was on the winners wheel and could certainly have got top 3 without taking any real risks.
Not a fan of bike slinging, sorry but that's a 5k bike plenty of people would love to own, show a bit of respect to your equipment. There was a kid in our club who used to throw his bike down and kick it when things went wrong, he was about 8 though and even then I told him if he was lucky enough to have been given a bike he should start by looking after it.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
Nice for IAM to get their first win this year.0

I love a bit of bike slinging.
Kittel is at the top of his game and It shows how much he wants to win.
The consequences for him are different because he his one of the best racers in the world and he did not get his moment.
If that was some idiot on a club run then I would be more inclined to agree with your view if there actions impact on someone else but if they just wreck their own bike ,,,,then good, their an Idiot.
8 year old's throwing tantrums,,, I blame the parents0 -

Cav needs to sign up Sam Bennett for the duration, cos he sure ain't getting much
help from his Team.
He gets Rickshaw Renshaw, while Greipel, Kittel and Demare get first class TGVs."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

So does the violence in Ukraine and the civil wars in Africa. Sure it's not that bad but he would be a better man not to do that. If a stock moves 10% against me I dont smash my monitors...neither should he smash his bike. A momentary lapse in the cool and clam persona the German usually portrays.
I agree about the trash to be found on tv, internet and media in general which has greatly impacted society for the worse in terms of morality, intelligence and human qualities.Contador is the Greatest0 -

And every generation thinks society is getting less moral and more stupid, but long term trends across decades show exactly the opposite.Twitter: @RichN950 -

I am very interested in this subject. Please can you provide me a link to information showing the improvement of morality? I refer to comparisons in civilised nations and peoples - barbaric romans, vikings or chinese dont count! If you refer to education improvements - I would agree that it has increased...it would be hard to argue the opposite, access and availability to it at least. The uptake and use of it is open to debate.
I agree about it is an issue of access. Unfortunately this World gravitates to the simple and the easy option. There are countless examples of this in small aspects of life. This has a detrimental effect on society. I could wax lyrical on a debate on these matters. Will stop though as this is not the thread to do it on ; )Contador is the Greatest0 -
Whilst moralising, do you consider Cantador's actions a good example?
Violated the code of the regulatory body, decided to keep racing regardless ... The affect he had on the races that were 'won' by the second place riders was palpable ... No way would have Scarponi won his Giro with Bertie not riding ...
I look forward to your response ...
(FF has indicated he may have blocked me for not liking pretty pictures ... Please quote so I get a response ... thanks)0 -

We're being lectured on morality by someone who works in the financial services sector?
