Is he? Like Tony Martin was? Poor German riders, they have to double up on careers

Had Hofland in my PTP :P

Ah ha. I thought it was an instruction to Gianni Meersman from Pat in the car.

I know it's only stage 2 but I'm feeling a little deflated about this P-N.

I was only watching as a work avoidance/struggling with a particularly tricky methodological thing tactic.

Give me some reasons to get excited about this Race to the Sun people.

I'm not best pleased, myself. AND I'd booked this weekend in Nice to watch Sat and Sun stages...

Germany didn't become the powerhouse of Europe for nothing you know...

Yeah sorry RR but I'm not going to feel sorry for you having a weekend in the South of France, cycling or no cycling. ;)

Go watch France v Ireland instead...

Commissaires have slapped a 1'10" penalty on Meersman for taking the mickey

    He's 102nd on GC now

Win some lose some. On the balance of probabilities he should chase using the cars every time especially if some poor bike handler takes him out.

Would have been nice if a sprinter won the sprint.

I think Hofland would consider himself a sprinter.

Apparently Nacer's idol is Mike Tyson. That takes him down a lot of pegs in the rankings. As does that shaved eyebrow and ding dong cap.

GM still listed as in the group that finished 18secs back. They need to update that. Only reference I am seeing is Jacky Durand.

Andy Schleck finished nearly 7mins down. Amazing a WT team still pays him a salary.

Its not Schlecks time yet. Wait until the business end of the season to judge.

    He does look rubbish though

Maybe he's just a big fan of the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball?

    He's buiding his form

And he's super-motivated. Apparently. Not sure for what, mind

We've heard the one before where riders going in 5th gear rather than 6th when descending after becoming a dad. You have to wonder what that means for Andy. I'm aware he never had a 6th gear anyway, but still...

Rumour has it he's angling for a contract with Yellow Fluo because he likes their hi-viz safety kit.

But there's a difference between using the cars after a crash and riding the bumper of your own car for more than 5km
A 1'10" penalty is very lenient for that.

In my opinion, Meersman is lucky to still be in the race.
Possibly the most blatant piece of "long" pacing seen in recent years.
    Warnings ignored etc etc.

It was entertaining though. Did he drop someone or did they just decide not to follow and backed off.

He went past EBH so fast. Illegal but great to watch.

Not sure what to make of this parcours tbh. I have no idea whether a proper stage racer can win this. I think Geraint's chances are pretty high especially considering his form at the moment.
