Not much competition for Nibali but then the route is meh...wouldn't be surprised to see an outsider win.

No MTN finishes, no TT, no wonder Sky switched Porte to T-A when Froome had to pull out.

But not playing to the strengths of the traditional GC riders certainly makes this an interesting and open route.
Best case: a series of classics, mad breakaway attempts and plenty of surprise players.
Worst case: a tightly controlled race with no breaks allowed to get away, the GC being won on time bonuses by a consistent finisher with a decent sprint - might as well abandon having a yellow jersey and just go with the green.

There's a Bretagne Seche guy away. He was 10 mins up the road after 35 mins! The peloton are just rolling along.
    Beautiful day here, 25°

Normally one of my favourite races of the year - but it's a bit 'ordinary' this year. I'm sure the ASO have their reasons, but think having no TT or a MTF is a mistake. Time will tell.

As already said, it might make it a better race in terms of more likely winners.

I think only one person went for Gerrans which surprised me - I was sorely tempted but went safe with Costa in the end.

That was me, a bold choice but I reckon it'll pay off - even though I don't like the cut of his gib. (jib?)

This was Laborie after about 25k when he had a 10 min lead. He was away for over 100k but he's back in the bunch now.
  • Race gets funnelled down a narrow lane with 20km to go and the peloton, not surprisingly, has a road blocking chute

Bouhani hit the deck pretty hard earlier apparently so might struggle in the sprint.

He did last year - after winning the previous day; except last year he hit the deck face first....
