I'm disappointed in you. Surely this is the best glasses reflection shot as it includes subtext.

Can't find the photo now, but there was a great one reflected when he won the stage:

Probably the best. There are close ups of his face and the reflection is top notch:

I've moved the short list (as it was) to the opening post for ease of reference
When I've time later I'll edit it again to reflect the discussion over the past couple of pages, let it go for a couple of days and then add an ongoing vote.....
Will also look at the wallpaper thread for ideas and better versions of what we have....

With all the rubbish on this page, it's nice to see some good looking bikes but those brake cables I remember well from the sixties.
Mine wouldn't have been that length flapping about in the wind but still clipped to the top tube.
Down Tube/Seat tube bottle cages OK. and Toe Clips.
Now on one of those frames (but 75/75 angles) you could have an Hour Record that sticks. (oh yes there is one going spare on the Brussels Metro, what's the name of that station ?)

Wasn't there also supposed to have been some skulduggery related to Shimano vs Campag at that Worlds ? Gimondi & Merckx were Campag and Maertens was Shimano IIRC and I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that money changed hands in relation to this

I think that was just Maerten's paranoia coming out. From what I recall of the story, a day or so before the event a group of riders, including Maertens, were out on a training ride when they came across Senior Campagnolo, who asked who was going to win the race. Someone said 'Him', pointing at Maertens. Campagnolo then started to laugh and said 'Oh no, not him, he rides Shimano'. Just a bit of banter I am sure, but Maertens took this to be the birth of a plan to stop him winning.

Bit late to the party, but read Maertens biography. The number one phrase used goes along the lines of "then they stabbed me in the back!". His rivalry with Vlaeminck was apparently so intense if he was sat on Maerten in races he'd take a detour leading him and Vlaeminck off route.

A group of 'county' amateurs after trying to keep up with the pros/make the time cut in the RAS

This photo was taken after stage 4 (of 8 ) when the race entered Donegal and started to get serious

    Donal-Harr.jpg

This guy probably had to go back to work the following Monday

Donal Harrington of the Mayo Centra team crashed on the opening stage in 2012 but battled on bloodied to finish and went on to complete the race. Because of those photo, he became the face of Rás 2012; the stand out county man among the Men of the Rás.

It must be the infamous stage 14 of the 1988 Giro d'Italia with Andy Hampsten leading the race leader Franco Chioccioli and as there is no sign (he could be hidden) of Erik Breukink (Panasonic) who went on to win that stage.
However the only picture I've seen of Erik Breukink that day on his way to win.

You need to up the prescription on your reading glasses, deejay, that's Breukink clearly visible in the Panasonic kit behind Chioccioli.

Excellent, no barrriers, no selfies. 1992? Did he change bikes? Doesn't look like he has Rock Shocks in this picture.
