Apols for any duplications but stumbled on a cache:
Not a club outing but a tour of Flanders reconnaissance, 2011:
Who's this? No Googling.

Octave Lapize is noted for looking at some Tour officials on the climb of the Col du Tourmalet in the 1910 Tour de France and yelling, “Vous êtes des assassins! Oui, des assassins!” The stage in question was 326 kilometers in length, featured 7 brutal climbs, and was raced on unsealed roads with single-gear bicycles. Seems to me he was somewhat reserved in his comments. He went on to win the Tour that year:

And Vittorio Adorni in the World Champion's jersey, which dates this picture to 1968/69. Adorni suceeded Gimondi as Italian champion in 1969. Adorni is credited with teaching Merckx how to eat and recover properly. In recent pictures (he was at the Vetriolo stage of this year's Giro) Adorni doesn't look to have aged much at all.0 -

This is an incredible thread!
One that summed up the era I was brought up in with relation to being hooked on cycling was the Gewis 1, 2, 3 at Fleche Wallone. I was young and amazed by it......
