What's the biggest? I want to beat my PB climb elevation gain of 2,500ft 8)

These maps give you a good selection of main routes. We used them as a guide last October.Sa Colabra is good but beware food at bottom is expensive as it's a captive audience, one steep road in and steep road out. Also go early for it as lots of coaches go there mainly in the afternoons and cause traffic jams as it's very narrow in places.Light house run is also busy with coaches and road can be very potholed in places but some amazing views. if you venture to Soller you must have a mallorcan pie.Head up towards the station and on the bottom side of the small square there is a bakery on the corner. They are really tasty ( best we've tasted whilst we've been there) and you'll be ready for one by the time you get there and sit thinking about the climb back!!

Go into the station in Soller and see what a station should be like. Especially the Art Gallery. Lovely little town. My sister lived there for a while.
Mass on Sunday at the church was worth going to. Well for us left footers.Nothing to prove. http://adenough1.blogspot.co.uk/0 -
I'm going for the week with 10 mates in mid May. We are staying at Muro.

There's two main climbs out of Soller, the one that goes over the tunnel and down the hairpin bends. Super tough from both directions.
Then there is the climb to the Montbanner tunnel, which I believe is higher, and is super tough from the Soller side - however it's a more gentle incline from the other side. If you climb from Soller to Montbanner you have about a 20 mile descent into Pollenca!0 -

Apparently there's a great ride from Pollensa to the lighthouse that we should be taking in as well?
That will be the ride up to Formentor. Lovely ride, quite up & down, & watch out for the goats! When I did it last year mid Feb the wind was ferocious. Some people turned around as they feared being blown off their bike, but it makes for good fun. If you go, make sure you go all the way up, take the road to the restaurant, which you will want to shelter in due to the ridiculous wind!0 -
Oh yes Pollenca to Cap de Formentor is a must do - it's not a particularly long ride - 14 miles each way from the southern end of Port de Pollenca, and not massively taxing in terms of hills, but it's such a lovely route and you get to stop at the lighthouse for a cake at the end. It was one of the first rides I did there, road surface isn't great however .
The best part of that route (at least in April) is just the amount of cyclists on it, no joke that you'd see 100 cyclists for every car.
PS. I remember that route most though for trying to get our one year old to sleep in the car, driving up to the lighthouse and back in the dark, no cyclists out and even then it's a nice route. She was asking about going through the tunnel to see the lighthouse for months after!0 -
I'm not going to Mallorca this year so I hate you all.0

I cycled that on a one speed tandem one summer back in the late 80's from Can Picafort. Barely saw another bike! had a nice swim at Formentor before the return trip.Bianchi Infinito CV

Yes the cafe isn't great, self service pap really. When I went through last year they were patching up some of the road surface but it really needs to be stripped back and relaid, not sure why they don't compared to the roads in the rest of Mallorca isn't in a horrid state, and especially compared with the first half of the route.0 -
As I arrived at work this morning in freezing temperatures I was thinking, sod it, let's just go and live in Mallorca, not serious of course but I do wonder what it's like living there year round, I would imagine the constant tourist thing would wear you down eventually.0

Then you need to do the honourable thing. One fair is cheaper than three.0 -
Thinking of planing a trip to Mallorca after the school holidays - it'll mostly be a family holiday as it might be the last chance we get before my daughter starts school, but I hope to get a couple of days cycling in too.
What's the conditions like in September or into October? Would like it to be warm enough for playing on the beach but not too hot that cycling is going to be unbearable!0 -

I wax there in november last year and it was still hot beach weather. 28 degrees. Into October would still be perfect.0 -
Very nice! The first idea from the wife was to go at the start of September, but I quite like the idea of going into October when it's starting to get a bit cooler in the UK.0

Be careful - we went early October one year and the weather broke. We got some big storms and quite cool weather. Unusual perhaps, but it can happen.0 -
Has anyone used 'mallorcabikehire'?
They only had a Planet X pro carbon left which im not exactly enthusiatic about riding but its a bike. I used the Canyon Base last time but they were fully booked. I'm there on the 7th April.0 -

Are there any road bike hire places around the Cala d'Or area as this is one of the places we are looking at.
We'll have a car so we could drive to Port de Pollenca but would rather not have to - holiday time being precious.0 -
