Big headtubes are apparently aero. Just look at most TT bikes! And some road bikes still feature curved top tubes. Just look at Specialised for instance.
Although the new Look track bike has a straight top tube so maybe there's nothing in it!0 -

That was terrible luck. I suspect it has been an expensive process. If he thinks he can go again in the next couple of weeks I'd chuck a contribution in the hat towards his track hire0

Well, what can I say!?
That was a horrible, horrible experience. Not the ride itself, but to crash so close (relatively) to the finish. I was definitely in the 'hurt locker' of the final 20 minutes but holding the pace I needed to do to beat the record. I was riding conservatively to make sure I got the record and was hoping to lift it in the last 10 mins.
Front wheel blew just before the corner so I had nowhere to go. Except down.
Tried to get up and ride again but landed hard on my elbow and couldn't support my weight.
Anyway - will have to go for it again at some point. Maybe a year from now after Rio. They did ask if I wanted to ride again tonight or tomorrow morning....but Graham Obree I am not!

(There's a Revolution event in Manchester on Jan 2 - with a bit of prodding I'm hoping they might let me have a go that day. It would suit perfectly). I think I can beat the record handily! Slower start and faster middle section. And staying upright of course!!)0 -

I did actually watch despite my earlier post (I turboed instead of riding out) I thought you held your position on the bike excellently and to be honest certainly put Bobridge to shame on that point.
I sincerely hope you get a crack at the Revolution. If you can hold or even improve your form between now and then you'll smash it.0 -
