HIgh temperature increased fatigue, according to Xavier. 30C.

but dont they control the temperature, when I saw them talking earlier it sounded like they thought it might not be warm enough, I know 28C was a figure they were aiming for, or was that just an expected increase in fatigue near the end because of the conditions and theres not alot you can do about it.

I would guess so. It was a great ride on a terrible day for time trialling. That ride would have beaten Romingers time easy on an average day and on a really low day he could have been knocking on 56km.

Well done Wiggo. Great ride. It was fabulous to be there.

Wiggo should do it again after Rio even if he still has the record. Easy for me to say though.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Best thing about that ride is that he ditched the beard! I was wondering whether marginal gains would win out over his image. I wonder how much difference it would have made? I'm sure someone calculated it!
Thought it was a bit risky myself, surely all the testing would've been done with the beard, shaving it off was a step into the unknown!

    Just got home from it

Wow. He was like a metronome. Incredible to watch and looked really powerful.

The heat in there was nuts. They said 28c shortly before it started and it got hotter for sure.

Plus I got my pic taken with Big Mig.

I can't believe the heat inside was beneficial to the attempt. I must have lost around 2 kilos of sweat just queueing for a beer. As we entered the velodrome the stewards were desperate to keep the doors closed so they could ramp the heat up.

They warned us it was going to be 28 degrees, but it was more like 35 were we were seated.

No. They weren't that desperate (although it does seem like a very Friebe-like topic). It was something on topic. (Or maybe something about the reliability of McLarens - I see the 1-2 at the start were 1-2 at the finish. Again)

Let's just say my bag was a lot heavier leaving than when I went it.

Hutch saying he doesn't think the record will last a year.

I'm not so sure, it will still take an exceptional tester on an exceptional day with access to the very best preparation and equipment to beat that. Factor in finding a gap in busy schedules and a high possibility of failure and I don't think it is such an attractive proposition.

    Indurain;
“Wiggins in now in the club. He’s won a Tour and now the Hour Record but don’t forget he has won a lot of other races and he has the huge success from the Olympics. He’s a champion. Everyone has their ideas of what a legend is but Bradley is one of them.”

There's no arguing with that really, is there?

I'm not his greatest fan but there's no getting away from what an awesome effort that was. Hat.

I took a wander over to The Clinic this morning to see how they're taking it.

Apparently the entire effort was a calculated affront to regular posters on the clinic.

Apologies if this has been covered, but how much of a real advantage did Boardman's 96 bike give him over what Wiggins rode yesterday?

They spoke to Simon Mottram (Rapha founder) on The Cycling Podcast stream during the hour and he said he had 18 people sat with needles in the track centre ready to put the distance on. This was towards the end of the hour and Richard Moore joked they could probably put the "5" on now.

Did he say 18 people, or am I misremembering that? Presumably they ran off a bunch of those jerseys for sponsors, VIPs etc?

    They're getting lazy.

Now they're judging riders based on the guestlist at their event (which Wiggo probably had very little to do with), rather than 'calculating' power output and claiming super-human efforts.
