That is not the quickest way. The quickest way is to have a sip for every lap.

Might be a closer than you think that one ;-)

    Ha ha!

Anyway I can't believe how Bradley looks like the Bradley of 10 years ago. The haircut, the beard gone, the weight difference.

Heiko doesn't think he's pushed the bar high enough.

Another record attempt after Rio I reckon (if he doesn't still hold it).

I know it's a measured effort but if you're not virtually passing out and unable to walk you've not given it 'everything', superb distance & mahoosive effort but kinda feel it should have being further.

So not sh!t and a disgrace then?

Disappointed not to see a 55 handle but then I have read 100s of people saying it is all down to the weather.

Best thing about that ride is that he ditched the beard! I was wondering whether marginal gains would win out over his image. I wonder how much difference it would have made? I'm sure someone calculated it!

If they were interested in putting the record out of reach, surely they'd have done it at altitude rather than in London in the summer? My feeling is that this was much more about the experience of breaking it than holding the record for as long as possible.

Still don't understand why you would kill yourself to set a record while knowing that deferring until the conditions were better would be worth another kilometre.

    But yeah, shave first.....

I listened to 10 minutes of the Kirby commentary, so I'm pretty sure I know exactly how Wiggins felt at 50 / 52 minutes.

Good ride, but like the man said, it's not out of reach.

He said hardly any, but in the end it was a hardly any that was worth gaining.

Supposedly it makes a big difference. When Beamon obliterated the long jump record he'd had a few goes and then there was thunder and lightning and someone persuaded him to go again and that's when he broke the record.
That's not right. He broke it with his first jump.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletics_ ... _long_jump

So he did - maybe there was a delay and he was told to go asap. The story I heard he made the jump soon after the storm - and obviously at altitude.

Beamon's jump was a similar situation but I think I'm actually thinking of the famous Lewis/Powell duel. Either way there seems to be less air resistance in those conditions.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

The trouble with that is R2D2 yaking away beside him. (in the case of his friend Tony Rominger)

Nice ride, well done but you need to stay on the Black Line in future to get more laps in.

    Seen it all before.

Surely riding without his helmet and taking a road bike on the track is a DQ offence?

Agree about the choice of dates. But Wiggins has said he want to put it out of reach...

That tattoo ink in his right arm must have added a couple of grammes :)

I never knew watching a gold and blue blur go round in circles would make my heart rate go up with excitement as I cheered him on. Congrats Sir Wiggins! I hope he's inspired some youngsters to get into our sport.

Always amazed at the kind of consistency it's possible to achieve over 200+ laps, even with that last 10 minutes.

I'm waiting for him to superimpose it over Dowsett's and the others splits. It'll be frightening.

HIgh temperature increased fatigue, according to Xavier. 30C.
