It was on Sky Sports 3 at midday for 2 hours ATC.

    Evans, schmevans.
  • Just watched the whole show. A marathon!
    Enjoyed the Willunga lap.
Evans thought he had to break Gerrans and hadn't factored in Porte.
Caught between the Sky man ( a rock) and the chasing pair, (a hard place) cost him the jersey.
At that point, he needed a crystal ball.

    Where did you find that?

I recorded it live, then watched it for most of the afternoon.
Have to say it was a pretty dull affair, until the final 20kms.
Not that I had any right to expect anything different.

I don't like Evans, miserable sod he is. Pleased he isn't leading.

He's got ever right to be miserable.
Evan's has got stuck with the eternal wheel sucker tag, yet he's started all the action in this race.
Meanwhile, the guy who has made jumping off wheels in the last 100 metres an art form, you like.

Evans lost the wheel sucking tag years ago. Not stuck with it at all these days.

Gerrans would have been lost there without Ulissi dragging him up Willunga. Never did a turn, never helped out. I admire his talent for making the most out of opportunities, but if everyone rode like him....

He needs a Cadel like renaissance to get more love (although Cadel changing his style of racing also saw his results improve - not something that would happen if Gerrans did I reckon.)

Personally I find Gerrans quite likeable when interviewed. I get why he's not generally liked much by others though. he's a bit of a pantomime villain, or some sort of bogeyman. I can imagine DSs telling their naughty riders "eat your rice and get to bed, or THE GERRANS will get you!"

    Edited because I'm a cretin
Looked like OPQS messed that up - Fenn and Renshaw both going for sprint.

What's happened to Kittel? Dominant last weekend, rolling in behind the peloton today.

I think Bellisol should be praised for getting a kit that work so well on a crappy stream! All Sprint teams should do that. OPQS in Solid Blue, LB in red and Giant-Shim in Solid White. Would be much easier!!
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

  • Gerrans won it a la Sean Kelly, by going for every single time bonus he could and digging in when the road went skywards.

Rumours that he's in a huff that the designers nuked the epaulettes he wanted on the new kit. Apparently the Mayor of Australia has to coach him out of the trailer every day.

Isn't he Scottish? Admittedly from the same Home Counties area of Scotland as David Millar, but Scotland all the same.

Fenn is an old English surname and although he was born in England his mum is Scottish.

Surprised he still has a ride with a team such as OPQS tbh.

Yeah, just a little dig at Phil who was calling him English in the sprint.

So Gerrans wins. I hope he is happy. Wouldnt be worth watching this race at all had Evans or Porte not been racing.

Good comments from Ulissi on cnews.

I was amazed that the top few let a breakaway go, as someone famous once said, 2nd is 1st loser.

Pleased with how Ulissi performed, I like him.

Absolutely gutted that Evans didn't win in the end, more disappointed than I've been at any result. I like the guy a lot, he's one of the classiest riders in the peloton and has full-on uniqueness. We need more weirdos like Evans and Wiggo in cycling IMO, diversity of personalities adds colour and unpredictability.
