They only made 252 of them.
I take it, you don't like it.

    Uber rare.
The Z8 is top of my list of cars to buy if I win a very big lottery prize. Need to be since the one I want is 350,000 pounds.

    It was a flop:

The BMW 507 is a roadster that was produced by BMW from 1956 to 1959. Initially intended to be exported to the United States at a rate of thousands per year, it ended up being too expensive, resulting in a total production figure of 252 cars and heavy losses for BMW."

It shows that we are all different. I don't see any real aesthetic in it.
Given unlimited funds, this is something I would have:

Oddly enough, that's very similar to the pic I had on my wall as a kid, except it was red.

Driven one of those a bit. Meh. The 993 version you posted earlier is much more desirable. But I don't get it... how does a 400 BHP V8 in this body not appeal to everyone?

    ...because:

    A) Power - anything over 200bhp is going to have to be driven at 30% of it's capacity or bye bye license. So for an every day car, you are going to have to keep a lid on it. For the odd blast, well, that's just novelty.
    B) Power does not always equal fun.
    C) To me, it's ugly, has no kerb appeal, has limited aesthetics with badly mimicked lines.

The adage: 'There's no replacement for displacement' is utter boll@x.

Here is the question for you: If it did not have a 4.0L V8 in it and it had something smaller, would it still appeal to you? If the answer is no, then you may as well get a TVR Griffith or similar or something with great power to weight ratio like a Dutton.
My mate had a Dutton kit car with a 1700 cross flow engine, ported and tweeked with massive brake callipers. It was and still is the fastest thing I have ever been* in and it cost him i.r.o £5k to put it together.
So why pay mega bucks if all you want is top speed, acceleration and stopping power? If I had 50k to spend on a car, I would want to tick all boxes.
Or is it it's value? Value often has little to do with aesthetics, driveability, comfort, kerb appeal, looks...

Completely agree with that, I still smile when I drive the Mini. Don't think it would be Stevo's bag though.
I've driven a few fast cars and some fast bikes, fastest accelerating thing was a KTM supermoto. Not very powerful, but with a full tank it weighted 107kg. It was an absolute hoot, I was happy to hand it back after a week with my licence intact.

I did the Maths and had visions of you hooning around in some crappy little 60 bhp Aygo/Jimny type thing with your right foot nailed to the bulkhead :)

Turbos do change the game when it comes to displacement but there are limits, as off boost performance and turbo lag get progressively worse as you try for bigger bhp/litre outputs. I say go big engine and a turbo - best of both worlds. No harm in having something that's over-engineered :)

Not sure whether 911's can physically fit a V8 in the engine bay? AFAIK they've always stuck with variants of the flat 6. That said, the weight of a big V8 over the back axle must have handling consequences.

V8 or not, the engine power/weight has to match the chassis.

True, but assuming I can find one with a good engine/chassis match a bit anti-social V8 appeals because of the speed, the noise and the potential to annoy the tree huggers in Cake Stop.

To annoy people, the Camaro SS.
But you're going to get the Jaaaaaaag.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Just put a couple of holes in the exhaust of a Daihatsu Charade.
    Bolt a Turbo to it.

Im wondering what sort of tw@t a bloody Ford Kuga makes me. Bland piece of crap that it is. Though Mrs H3 chose it.
I have some new carbon soled bike shoes that I subsidised with my leaving present from my last job. Just trying to get the cleat position right.

By default probably the last one?
