After a bottle of that stuff, is it: "Aye, hoots amigo, I cud get right inta this mas que borracho"?
Followed by Chorizo, chips and curry sauce?
Some brie maybe. Time to zone out with some mindless action film....The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I am getting closer but its tricky now that I have complete free reign over what to get, the only criteria being that my chosen wheels should be stupidly fast, antisocially loud, fun to drive, can take a bike rack and capable of reaching Redka without me wearing arctic/wet weather gear at any time of year (i.e. no Caterhams/Ariels etc).
I have ideas but let's have suggestions on a postcard from any petrolheads."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Whats' the budget?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

Go on what you reckon fits the bill rather than the budget: I can always try to make it fit by buying a slightly older one if needed."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
Quattroporte? I always quite fancied a maserati.0

Pause the film. Pee break. Thought about a Burt film but went really mindless, Robocop.
Car? RS6 avant. No need for a bike rack. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

It's a gorgeous evening. Sun is setting leaving a glow. I fear the last of summer is upon us and I have a winter bike in need of TLC. Or do I just ride it and hope it doesn't fall apart?
What you drinking tonight Hoppy?
Are yew in da house CC?
Out of your Fox hole (with kind permission of the other half only on account of the Friday night soap fest) Bally?
Decided on a new mota Stevo?
Which one of MF is turning up?
Early night for you TLW 'cos the OH is running tomorrow?
I would mention Blakey P.
But would require two sentences.0 -
Stevo - you like a jap car, so what’s the fastest Nissan?0

Food for thought there.
Nissan 350Z - can see the attraction but have done the 'rice rocket' thing for a good few years so do I want to do it again? Need to take a look and think about that. Or a GT-R? (to answer your question TLW - good choice but maybe a bit too Evo-like?)
Maseratis - not sure, for some reason Masers have never lit my fire but don't know why. Will take a look...
Audis - can see the attraction on the engines (and efficiency) but never felt the 'fun factor'. Practicality is also good but not essential here as we are a 2 car family and have one practical car which Strifey is determined to keep until it dies.
I'm also thinking along these lines, as long as some other sucker has taken enough of a depreciation hit

Full fat amg is a lot of fun, also obvious choice of a 9110
-
From the above, the Jag as less obvious toy to the Merc. 911 is the winner. But you want the Jag, we know that. PS-Hope you are a zen driver, the boy racers will certainly tease you, like it or not.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

911 good drivers car I know, but the heart is still not convinced. Also less good from the 'other sucker taking the depreciation' hit.
I'm used to being baited by the boy racers as the Evo used to be a 4 wheeled V sign to every other road user. Not that it was boy racer-ish in any way"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

The Jag xf is nice. I don't see it as a mid life crisis car,
A 90's 911 (993), now there's a thing but not exactly cheap.

Now, to be serious...
Audi's. Bit dull. Doesn't really flick any switcjes for me. Sure, an Audi R something? You'll run out of Tarmac very quickly. They are so staid when driving normally. They only become interesting when you put your foot down which leads to... Practicality. If you are considering an Audi, you are in the same bracket as a BMW. Audi's (especially the R badged variety run on Bluetooth and very fancy dealer only software). My friends neighbour have an Audi A4. Plain 2L petrol and a small oil leak from the blue motion auto box. Audi want £3500 before labour to fix it.
My mate has an Audi A6 with a crack in the screen Autoglass will do the job and only a £75 excess fee but all sorts of things are wired to the screen to the extent that once the screem is done, it will have to go to Audi to get the software re-programmed.
You will be using whatever you get for an occassional blast but first you have to get out of London. Apart from that, the odd (legal) drive up the A/M1.

Maserati?!! FFS. Do you know the service costs of those things? Whatever appreciation/holding value it has will be offset by servicing costs and you will have to go dealer only to maintian your service stamp history and you will have to get it serviced within the reciommended schedule.
Do not have a breakdown in Redcar 'cos you will be calling Maserati of London to come and pick the car up.
Maserati servicing:
Every 12500 miles.
Ghibli for example: £2500 per service.
Rubber on those 20 or 21 inch wheels will get munched quickly and will cost a fortune to replace.
I could not bring myself to pay over £35k for a car unless it is a classic which will appreciate markedly and I could afford to maintian service history.
I understand being put off a classic and yes, Porkers are eye wateringly expensive to maintain. That's why my humble 944 ticks my box - I do most of the work on it, it will appreciate very slowly, it's so much fun to drive. I have owned and driven far more powerful cars but no other car has put such a smile on my face like the 944 - it get's under your skin.
So where does this leave you?
I have a Polish friend who owns a dark grey Jaguar XF. (She's meant to bring ot to me for a detail, but hasn't had the time). It looks good. The interior retains that British elegance and simplicity. I would even say that the option has to be an Auto...
Or...
Something in the £20k bracket. An M BMW? A Nissan 350 Z GT? You would get a heck of a lot of bang for your bucks and not have the concern that your fancy Maserati with it's metallic flick gets a ding in the NCP/Tesco car park/dizzy burd in her Range Rover vogue delivering Sebastian and Mercedes to school running into the back of you.
"Oh f*ck, there goes my NCD, I have a £350 excess and the paint isn't going to match so the whole thing will have to be re-sprayed...".
Protected NCD or not, it will affect your premium and don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
"Have you had a claim inthe last 5 years?"
"Have you had an accident in the last 5 years?"
'Hang on, wait a minute, where's the box to tick satying |I had protected NCD?...'.
The shortlist for you I think is:
Fast Japanese motor - Lexus IS 350 sport?, Lexus LFA (if you can get one), Nissan Z?,
BMW M badge. Fantastic ZF auto boxes on them.
Jaguar of some description.
Or at a stretch and don't over look it - Ford Mondeo ST Line.
Merc AMG. Although I think the build quality of the Merc does not match the BMW and the AMG badged variety are always over priced.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
