I didn't think it would be your sort of car,
I think you want something you can have a bit of fun in and is sporty, with a bit of class thrown in?

Go and have some test drives.

Fair comment - I might go easy on the class though, otherwise it might look odd :D

Need to narrow down my choices a bit first - 4/5 down to 2 I think. Decisions, decisions. In the meantime I'll get the recall check done on the Maz-duh that I've been ignoring since last year so I can chop it in when needed. It'll have to go sometime as Sadiq is banning a lot of cars from coming inside the South and North circulars in the not too distant.

    No barges!

What is that? Link seems to have expired.

Jaguar XJ - R - Supercharged V8. Had a pimp-tastic interior in black and cream leather with contrast stitching, and gloss carbon trim. Was about 40 grand.

...and Stevo has to pay extra extra to get it within the North road circular for that.

Take a Jag XF or similar for a spin... then take the Nissan Z...

I think you would be delighted with the go kart handling, short wheel base and very easy revving Nissan.
So much fun. I only know this as a friend had a 350.
Not the best exhaust note like a lot of Jap cars (bar Subaru boxster engined one's) but you can't really hear it from inside the car.

M535 is nothing like an M5. M535 is a standard car that's been pimped in the looks department, M5 looks more standard but has the go.

I agree, a guy at work had an S63 AMG Coupe but reckoned his TT RS was a lot more fun on twisty roads. The 350z I drove a few years ago was excellent. I've been sowing the seeds for a proper car next time round to replace the GF's a3

It's car about age and what emissions tests you pass - diesels have to pass the Euro 6 which was only manadatory 2 years ago FFS. Most petrol motors post 2005 will be OK. So ironically my Maz-duh blandmobile that does 50mpg on Redcar trips will get fined for going inside the South Circular but I could swan through for free in some monster V8 Merc/Bimmer/Jaag. So logically...

Yep, an older M535 or similar. You can pick them up for a very reasonable price. That car set a helluva standard in comfort, handling and power.
TLW had one (I think) but he'll agree nonetheless.

My old chap had the 535 - was fun, but preferred driving my bosses m5

The m5 was stiffer, much faster and sounded great. The 535 was a relaxed but fast cruiser

Fugginell. I remember liking the look of the bmw z8 15 years ago, thought that might be a left field option as a modern classic. They're now the price of a house, properly expensive.

According to Shorty, I should light little fires in all the bird boxes to keep them warm and I should put little doors over the 'round holes'.

That'll make roast birdies shorty. Shorties are lovely. Is this the shorty who deconstructed Christianity?

I looked it up. It was built to commemorate the 507.
