London drinks

Mr Chasey meant to say: "It's surprising how fun it is to talk about cycling with people who think they know about it."0

I can be somewhere in the City at around 6.30pm. I don't have much pub preference although would prefer it to not be insanely busy. Water Poet?0

Was that the place from a couple of Christmases ago with the dreadful acoustics?0 -

Yes! It was Xmas then though.
We have also met at the London Wall Bar & Kitchen which is much quieter, but also means everyone gets lost finding it.0 -

Right around the corner from my office.Little boy to Obama: "My Dad says that you read all our emails"

If it's the 24th then I can do anywhere, although The Water Poet would allow me a headstart!!Little boy to Obama: "My Dad says that you read all our emails"

And hand over the entire contents of your bank account. Polpo charges far too much for too little food, and I'm hardly a big eater.
Vinoteca maybe. But then you'd have to meet my girlfriend too who works very nearby!0 -

Both those good with me as I can then stumble onto the train (as with London Wall)... alternative in that area is http://www.italianwinebar.co.uk/ which is always quiet and has lovely wine.
Can do Water Poet if that's the majority preference.0 -

That's OK, when I get bored of talking cycling (which may be quite quick given my loss of mojo), she and I can talk kittens and embroidery.0 -
As long as there is good beer, it is quiet enough to hear yourself speak and ideally you can sit down then that works. Drink lots of wine at home but not so often when I'm out.
nb. Water Poet fits the bill there. Food is also decent if you wanted some. http://www.waterpoet.co.uk/food-drink/Contador is the Greatest0 -

Only bottles from the chateau, eh?
Water Poet (I keep reading it as Wout Poels) good with me then.0 -
Decent choices of beer at The WP, and the wine list seems OK - again, like FF I very rarely drink wine when out.Little boy to Obama: "My Dad says that you read all our emails"

Just bumping in case there is anyone else interested.
All the pub options people have mentioned are in the City, so it shouldn't affect anyone's decision whether to attend. If it is sunny I can see a strong argument for London Wall Bar & Kitchen.0 -
You guys still on for tomorrow?Contador is the Greatest0

Yes I am0 -
Yes, still intending to come. But I've got some work leaving drinks to head to first, so have a strong preference for London Wall Bar & Kitchen / Farringdon way...
What time?0 -
Mate you had works drinks last time which was the reason we went to that place in the Barbican! Water Poet is easiest for me and I can make it by 5.30 or so which will likely be too early for most.Contador is the Greatest0

ha ha... I did try very hard not to double book. Except my boss then decided to resign and have drinks tmr.
Woult Poels is probably one of the least convenient locations for me!
I can probably escape the other drinks at about 6.30...0 -

Franchfighter if you're finishing work at 5.30pm then you have plenty of time to make it London Wall Bar & Kitchen by 6.30pm! I think, other than everyone getting lost, that is probably the best idea.0

Ok London Wall Bar and Kitchen it is. I'll get there about 6.15 but can be earlier.Contador is the Greatest0

Cool... if anyone hasn't been before, it's next to the Museum of London entrance on the upper level of London Wall.0
-
In addition to dish_dash's directions, the best idea is to follow the directions for the museum of London. This should take you up some steps or an escalator. I propose sitting outside with the masses.0
-
And then there were 3... I probably won't be able to make it. But I am sure you can put the world to rights without me.0

Alright I shall be there 6.15 unless anyone can get there earlier.Contador is the Greatest0
