    I have friends in Guernica (Barankela) and Bilbao, must pay them a visit. Supposed to be great cycling around Guernica with plenty of hills.

    That's one of the best places I have ever visited as well. The caves and underground boat trip are amazing.

    That picture is so low resolution that if I had one pound for every pixel, I would have exactly one pound.

    It just looks like a generic French restaurant in a generic French town square. Is there some identifying feature that I am missing?

    Yeah fair cop. The picture is rubbish. I tried uploading it from flikr and it hasn't worked well to say the least.

    So some clues:

    The place I am after is where I took the photo from. It has a lot to do with the French Revolution.

    As far as I can ascertain the cafe used to be called Cafe de la Gare.

    Paul Kimmage spent a month at least there when he was not selected for the tour.

    It was later owned by a retired cyclist called Thierry Claveyrolat
