But it is cheating. And he clearly saved time as a result. He should therefore be penalised time. Nothing excessive mind. 20 minutes would seem reasonable.

Well now we have another controversy. Sky just do this to keep Twitter in business ahead of a Murdoch buy out later in the year. You heard it here first.

Only 47 seconds separates 2nd from 5th place. without Froome, this TDF would be up in the air!

Throw him out for snaffling some gels and you'll have an amazing next 2 days.

    worth considering

I would give him a time penalty min

Porte took the gels, and i suspect would take any time penalty you give him...

well yeah but it was well cynical

I'm sure an illegal feed is just a standard race penalty, like excessive car drafting, peeing in the wrong place etc..... It's not anything unusual is it?

Fine in CHF and that will be it.

Well, they should weigh any bike that's been ridden during the stage really, otherwise people could just change bikes.

(It might be more of a concern if Contador had ever cheated before... oh, hang on :) )

you can't feed in the last 20km of a race usually unless it's really hot. I think it's so there can be a safe close to a stage.

Has that level of punishment been applied to others who have done the same in the race ?......if it has not then why should it be in this case ?

Surely a little unfair on a stage like that with effectively 2 HC climbs together??

20 seconds seems about right. I think that's what Leipheimer got in 2007 (and Roche in 1987)

No I will not be happy until I get both Froome and Porte's first born children.

Froome to ride the rest of the stages with 50 spare gels stuffed into his pockets.

Sky should have thought ahead and Porte's pockets should have been bulging with gels/bars/flapjack etc before the cut off.
