Froome's probably sh*tt*ng himself... he's going to explode on the team bus later if he loses the jersey today.
Well, if the stories about him selecting the team are true, he only really has himself to blame.

    May I remind you:

Sorry, that's the best I can do today. This stage is just too damn exciting to organise any local knowledge waffle.

Great ride by Kennaugh, he looks in a bit of the mess but is slowly closing with Porte. Sky paying the price for effectively only having 4 strong riders which left 3 of them going too deep yesterday? Odd how many Movistar are there today, maybe their plan was for much of the team to go easy yesterday and target today? Only just got back from a ride, how many climbs left?

    Two climbs left.

Hoping the whole race is like this, looks set to be one of the great Tours of recent years.

Cheers thought it might only be one. So does Froome cover every move from a contender?

What do you think a Froomedog explosion would be like?

A very very scary thing. I imagine they'll have to bring in some kind of exorcist?

He'll have to try and cover Valverde, Quintana and Contador.

Contador the proper serious threat (better TT), but Movistar's strength means they can put riders up the road and get bigger gaps.

    Very.very tough day for him.

Porte and Kennaugh slowly closing, but at huge cost, might not be worth anything when they get there. Kennaugh is smashed up from a nasty crash.

Any suggestions of sickness doing the rounds? Looking how bad Bertie, Evans and others were yesterday and then the Sky riders today suggests something is up as it isn't like the yellow jersey group is a who's who of top climbers.

    WOW

    Old school RACING

SKY got f'd big time. Porte, oh well.

Idiot rider that took out Pete though.

Froome doing decent being so intimidated and isolated.

If Porte gets back then a. this stage is a Major fail for GC (not viewing) and b. more suspicion.

Movistar and Valverde know how to race, they really do.

Bardet doing very well but this Clarke bloke - wow, bridged solo, came past on the descent with balls as big as boulders, and now he is solo!

Nice touch for the riders to donate all the prize money today.

Have to say Simon Clarke is fast becoming one of my favourite riders.

Oh, and it was Simon Clark going mental on the descent. Skillz or insanity: you decide!

No chance Porte and Kennaugh are getting back on this.

    How did Porte get unhitched?

So all those who were commenting about Sky having so many on the front yesterday (4 by this stage) what is your view of Movistar today?

Eisel was calling on people to donate to the flood relief efforts in Austria too during the Tour of Austria this week. There has been some crazy weather all over Europe this year. Personally I blame Sky.

Porte opted to wait for Kennaugh when the speed of yellow jersey group went up?

It's academic now, they have to ride optimally to be of use to Froome later in the race not destroy temselves today. Froome will have to fend for himself amongst these Spanish riders. Reminds me a bit of the situation of Ullrich isolated amongst a pack of climbers at the start of Galibier back in 1998. Porte and Kennaugh playing the role of Riis & Bolts, trying to get back to him.

Porte still fighting hard, he won't get back but with the TT to come he could be doing his long term GC hopes a world of good.

EDIT he really isn't looking in the sort of bother that would have got him dropped. Was the initial split on TV? Wonder if someone attacked at the time Kennaugh crashed and whether Porte got stuck behind?

When Kennaugh crashed out Porte did a load of work for Froome, burnt him up early.

Oh Titchy Richie going on a lone mission. It's like watching some sort of Disney movie... he's going to curl up under a bush soon and die just like Bambi's mum.

In other matters, can someone who has access to these things send me a copy of the latest Walsh article?

    Go Ritchie!

Although not much "action" the drama is incredible, so finely balanced between safety and disaster.

    Porte trying to bridge.

It's funny how there aren't any posts on here talking about Movistar doping, but if Sky do something similar it definitely means they're doping.

Shame for Pete crashing, didn't see it but seemed nasty.

If NORMALITY was in evidence he absolutely wouldn't. We shall see - he is currently trying solo and he is not even breathing at the moment.

True but exactly the same applied yesterday on the penultimate climb. Sky only had 4 riders and the front group still had Impey in it! It didn't stop a few people going on about the number of Sky riders on the front.
