Decent comments about from Wiggins re the transition to Froome being the GT main man. I'd say things are much more settled now both in the team and in Wiggins' mind.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Sometimes if you give the BBQ a good poke you can get another couple of sausages done on the dying embers....

I think Sky would have a gas BBQ. You lose some of the romance, but also takes the guesswork out of it

    It is what it is.

Perhaps a few snarks can find someone else to bitch about for a while

    See my post last July....

If he goes and smashes those two race, this thread will have been a complete wast of bandwith...fancy that...

How much training is classics in comparison? Could wiggins put a little more muscle on and be the star Sky are missing in the spring? Or will the wet roads give him the heebie jeebies? I think it's a shame if they sideline wiggins, no matter what he gives sky some of the personality they otherwise miss.

I don’t think I’d lump Tour of Poland and ToB together nowadays.

Poland will be like a second chance at the Giro for Wiggins:
    - Nibali will be there,
    - he can have pizza as the first two stages are in the Dolomites (and are mountain-top finishes too),
    - the TT is styled like the Giro TT (bumpy first half, flattish second half),

I imagine, too, that stage 6 is good practice for the World Championship RR at Florence. Maybe why Nibali is also in Poland.

I'm hoping they announce they're putting the entire classics squad in Brad's service for Roubaix. A few people will explode.

I do hope he gives the cobbles a good go next year, as he potentially has the make-up of a decent cobbles rider. Maybe it would be the thing to get him excited; new challenge, training/racing with a new group of guys.

I'm assuming you're including the World's TT as one of your 2 races?

So, maybe ride Poland and Pro Challenge in support (winning both time trials), then Tour of Britain to win the overall, then Worlds to cap off a hell of a season.

If he helps the Dude Dombrowski to at least a stage win in Colorado in Aug, and he is nice Brad* with the all the 'Merican press stuff (play it straight Brad, no irony, no sarcasm - they wont get it), it would go down a treat.

Thanks for link - decent article. Not at all surprised by what Wiggins says re sacrifices and kids. I've got two young kids myself, and as soon they appear, your motivations change immediately. With a sport as punishing on your personal life as pro cycling (is there a sport more punishing - F1 maybe?), it's little surprise that Wiggins feels this way having achieved what he has. How many top pro cyclists actually have kids anyway - not that many I'd wager. Evans and Gilbert are about the only two I can think of off the top of my head...

Jens Voigt has got six kids. Might be seven by now. Mrs Voigt seems to be the Henry Ford of child production.

What?!? ANy colour as long as they're black. Going to be difficult that, even for the mighty Jens.

"Wiggins now has less credibility than Lance has Tour de France titles"

    Eh?

Wiggins definitely is mentally a bit extreme. It seems to take a lot of emotional energy to prepare for something sport wise, but when he does, 'cor blimey. That effort seems to be difficult to repeat for him and you can see it in the way he deals with various problems.

He also doesn't strike me as someone who has to be the #1 and go after all the stats. I think he genuinely relished seeing whether he could win the Tour, and he did. Where to go from here is tricky for him - he has mentioned struggling to get motivated for more olympic medals on the track - hence the move to the road.

It explains the tilt at the Giro too. It was something he felt, as a proper cycling fan, was something big riders did - win the Giro and the Tour. I also think the confusing chat before the Giro was his way of dealing with the fact he wasn't going as well as he had done - it was similar to the chat he had in 2010 when he was rubbish.
Told ya back on page 1.

IF Wiggo is now finished with wanting to win GTs - I'd say he is already favourite for a rainbow jersey or 2 this year. If he has his head back on straight he'll take Martin I reckon.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
