I rode in the men's TT last night & it was superb. The crowds all the way along side the course cheering me on as a local rider are something which will stick with me for a long time.
A perfect eve for a TT, warm (21c), still and dry... Placed 21st, with a 1:08:11, 5:41 behind Alex... But hey, I'm 40 & it's his day job!

WOW
Why weren`t they at work?
Given that the top ten guys didn't start until 19:30, why should they be?0 -

This is why I love this forum.....always learning about new names.
2nd to LLS in 2011 and 2012 apparently.
Was Bertie riding?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
The Irish Women's Individual Time Trial result;
1. CAROLINE RYAN GARDA CC/RICHIES BIKE STORE 00:57:56
2. MELANIE SPATH TEAM TIBCO 00:58:20
3. EVE MCCRYSTAL GARDA CC/RICHIES BIKE STORE 00:58:54
Caroline was a very successful international rower before taking up the bike. She is making up for lost time.

Elise Delzenne takes the women's road title in France ahead of Amelie Rivat. Gutted for Audey Cordon who finished 5th. She was so disappointed with her second place in the time trial and it sounds as though she rode a really aggressive race.
Fingers crossed for Olivier Le Gac in the junior race.0 -

@Frenchfighter
What's your opinion of the tens (sometimes hundreds) of thousands of people who line the TdF route on a typical July weekday?
Many Scottish schools broke up for summer holidays this past week, so you can't use French school holidays as an excuse.0 -

Just finished watching Rai Tre's coverage.
Phew! For a long time there, up that final climb, it looked for all the world as if old man Tin Tin would suck Scarponi's wheel all the way to the Tircolore jersey.
Amazing ride by Stortoni, who towed the front 5 around the course for km after km.
Of course, Lampre had all their eggs in the basket of the guy who can't sprint to save his life.
Ulissi was left marking, in the 2nd group on the road."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

The end of the race was described by @velochrono on Twitter. From what I can tell, the first four plus Stortoni were in a break presumably being driven by Stortoni on behalf of Scarponi. Nocentini and Rabottini were part of a counter-attack from the peloton. Scarponi attacked the breakaway and was chased by Rebellin and Santaromita who presumably took the win in a 3-up sprint.
Edit: Beaten and bettered by Blazing Saddles.0 -
Thanks guys.
Rebellin getting it would have been even worse. Pellizotti has done a good job with it though.Contador is the Greatest0
