Devolder won it because the others didn't think he was a threat, they didn't even react when he went on the attack on the climb, they all just looked at each other and continued to mark each other.

Fair play to Devolder, he played them well.

So happy for Stijn Devolder winning the Belgian title. Nice answer for his non selection for the Tour! #letthelegsdothetalking

I love Devolder. A proper old school axe in the mold of Leif Hoste.

Also FF, lay off Brammier. His getting run over by a truck probably stunted his pro tour ambitions a touch.

Anomalies in Hoste's bio-passport data from 2008 and 2010 led to the opening of a disciplinary proceeding by the Belgian cycling authority. Hoste had already retired from the sport the previous month.

I think you're possibly not the best placed to be telling me not to enjoy a riders career even though he's a cheat.

    A familiar tale for him.

Indeed. The group of favourites from which he sprung should really not have been so complacent.

Is Stijn Devolder's wife related to Eddie Planckaert? I only ask because they just interviewed her on Sporza and she has the last name Planckaert. Is this a piece of cycling gossip I really should have known?

So no Norwegian national champs kit at the Tour.

Good for Thor, anger can be a great motivator eh?

Vaughters should get on the radio to Millar and tell him he's out of the Tour team.

Two 14.2km laps to go. Cav been doing a lot of work on the front.

Basically an odd situation here as there are only four riders left in the race. Rowe is over 4mins back. They may as well call it a day and end it a lap early.

I wonder if Dan Martin raced in Ireland. That Matt guy cant even get a PT ride bu holds the jersey. Bit of a shame tbh. Dan Martin would do it proud. Bet Garmin would make him a nice kit with it too.

    Neither Martin or Roche raced.

Doesn't detract from the win. He's beaten them both before. 3 times.

Yeah, that is what is unfortunate. Matt hung onto Martin and took the sprint. Twice.

So JTL managed the WC last year of a similar distance and was in the mix. But here at the UK nats with a field a fraction the quality he is nowhere.

He really has gone downhill since joining SKY.

Hang on a minute FF you can't spend the day bigging up Cav and then diss Brammier. For much of their racing past they were peas in a pod and we know Cav isn't going to win with a 3km break.

I like to see the nat champ jerseys when I watch cycling. If a rider wins it who is in hardly any races that I watch then I am not going to be happy.

Comparing Cav to Matt is quite funny actually.
