Devolder now has 1.24 with 11k to go. Can't say I'm exactly excited about this.

Who knew Devolder still had a ride like this left in him?

Millar is riding for Cavendish and can cover anything the two Sky riders try. Swift is a shi t sprinter but he was the only chance Sky had if they arrived together.

Would be happy with any of the front 6 GB riders winning it. Millar a little less than the others.

Why do you think Millar is riding for Cavendish?

Attack of Van Avermaet. Bakelants closed the gap. 1'29" for Devolder. 9 km to go. #bklaroche

Swift and Fenn are a long way down already, and the chasing five must be three minutes back now . #NRRC

I'd like Cav to win the GB champs.

Yes who knew Devolder had a ride left in him. He's got 1.35 now with 7k to go. Guess this will help with any contract negotiations, you can't have a peloton with no Belgian national champion in it.

I cant believe there was no one that covered Devolder. Where are you Gilbert?!?!?

These riders in the UK race have done really well tbh. A fast pace and most of the race by themselves given the rest of the UK is not good enough to follow.

Matt Brammeier wins the Irish title, again.

I wonder if Dan Martin raced in Ireland. That Matt guy cant even get a PT ride bu holds the jersey. Bit of a shame tbh. Dan Martin would do it proud. Bet Garmin would make him a nice kit with it too.

To answer that question, looking decidedly chubby and struggling up the hills. I think people in the back group were too busy marking Gilbert and Meersman and didn't give Devolder that much thought to be honest.

Huge disappointment for cycling fans with Devolder taking the jersey. Possibly the nicest nat champs jersey in the World and it goes to a guy who has a suspiciously poor performance most of the year and for the last few years.

I suppose he did a good job to win this race though and did a good amount solo. Big fail from the big boys.

Do they have drug testing at Nationals?

I love Devolder. A proper old school axe in the mold of Leif Hoste.

Also FF, lay off Brammier. His getting run over by a truck probably stunted his pro tour ambitions a touch.

Reading that Devolder did the "W" on crossing the line for WW - is this correct?

Anomalies in Hoste's bio-passport data from 2008 and 2010 led to the opening of a disciplinary proceeding by the Belgian cycling authority. Hoste had already retired from the sport the previous month.
