Looked tight, but I think Cav bagged it.

DQ might as well just sit in silence during these sprint finishes, his commentary adds nothing whatsoever "Caven... can he.... sprint.... erm... ah.... Yes!"

Cavendish had to go from along way out there. Second place salute from Nizzolo.

Quigley is bobbins at calling sprints.

    Well done Cav :D

There are very few people in any sport that you can trust to pull it off. Cav is one of those. He jumps, he gets his nose in the wind and you know he'll cross the line first.

Watching that overhead he is just so fast!

Yep from the overhead made it look easy

Nice work by Cav. Reckon he will be pretty proud of that one.

He had to work hard for that one and it showed. Good use of the shoulder on the guy who tried to box him in, no doubt in the TdF they'd use it as an excuse to DQ him but the Italians always seem more lenient.

OPQS seemed to ride 240km on the front. They'll deserve their Cav cuddles tonight. What a win.

That will make them new t-shirts out of date then....

How must the other sprinters feel when they watch that back..? Truly amazing.

Viviani's conditioning is starting to suffer.
Went backwards at a rate of knots.
Nizzolo the strongest, but Cav the fastest.

It almost looks like he's cheating by riding faster than everyone else. The problem for everyone else is that as well as often having a good team and a leadout train, and being the fastest, he's also an outstanding technical sprinter. He's so good at reading a sprint, picking the right wheel, finding space and timing when to kick.

Points jersey standings, anyone? A couple of breakaway days in the mountains would be helpful.

Edit: not from Cav obviously, but for others to scoop up the points Evans may take.

Think thats number 40 in GT stage victories for Cav.

Madness he was 10-1 on hills and 16-1 on PP to win this stage, i didn't think he would get over the climbs, obviously the bookies thought similar.

Ah, anyone fancy joining me in a piazza in Cherasco for an espresso or an aperitivo?

Quigley, is getting on my proverbials. 'Cavendish wasn't climbing so well earlier in the Giro.' No offence to Cav but some of those earlier climbs were a little different in character to those we've seen today.

So is Cav in with a chance for the points jersey now?

OPQS getting their train sorted out better now, bodes well to take his tour tally up a few more too.

I got my cycling tan lines back after 1 hour out in the sun last week.

No train from OPQS today. Somehow Cav managed to drop all his team mates on the climbs

Wasn't someone saying Cav is cr4p without a leadout the other day

FFS what is it with you?
Just becuase Cav is in the bunch does not mean he works any less than someone in a break. He worked his nuts off for that win and shows some of the knobheads on here he can climb when worht it.

That's always my favourite bullshit line. It's been trotted out for years now and every year at least 30% of his wins come from leapfrogging across other people's trains and just being in the right wheel at the right time to light the afterburner.

A couple of Cav's team closed the gap to the skateboader in Katusha kit, then Cannondale took over, Cav improvising about a half a dozen riders back. Rode it Robbie McEwen style today.

How do you make this out? How is Nizzolo the strongest when he came 2nd?
