Gesink flying under the radar so far...

Surprising, since he usually flies straight into everything.

Great result for Alex. Wiggins salvages some hope from the second half.
Bad result for the race, to have Nibali leading before the mountains.
The man guaranteed to animate things, may now have to race with more conservatism.
I can't see Sky coming up with a cunning plan.
So, who will light it up early? Don't ask Evans.

So Wiggins blew the final climb of the TT away.

makes the uphill TT (21km) on stage 18 interesting...

What are the times vs. everyone else?

Not analysed it properly, but he pulled back nearly a minute on Dowsetts time there. Would like to see how Evans and NIbali climbed it though.

If you're going to have a long TT.....that's the way to do it.

+1. Wiggins will be hoping for a quiet & dry day tomorrow surrounded by the team; then has Monday to recover before L'altopiano del Montasio on Tuesday.

I'd expect someone to make it hard tomorrow.

If you're up there overall, and feel ok after today, it would be worth making it tough.

Where would Henao be in GC if he didn't wait for Wiggins yesterday?

Answering my own question - 3rd I think

    Yeah +35s

Race looking interesting, out of top 5 I think.
1' is not a lot to make up or to be lost. Look at Ryder and pink jersey today.
Remember Wiggo couple of years ago in Vuelta riding clombers off his wheel with Froome.
They still have Uran and Haeno who look really strong to help.
Scarponi will attack for sure, also Ryder, Evans also so it won't be easy for Astana to control.

Hmm. First JV is 1000x better than she is. Second she needs to learn how to spell.

Surely they'll have to attack him or at least hope to drop him on a climb, I'm not sure how much time Wiggins can make up over 20km.

Hearing Wiggins is not 100% No matter what, he won't win the Giro backing off as much as he seems to be doing. Real shame that Henao lost that time yesterday:

Great win by Dowsett, even if Wiggins would have taken it if he didn't swap bikes. That last part was so steep even Pozzovivo managed to limit his losses somewhat.

Amazing ride by Nibali. Hope he keeps it up the following weeks and doesn't ride defensively. Also hope Wiggins got some motivation to attack in the mountains since he managed to recover so much time on the last uphill. Would have liked to see Henao going for it (without his time losses from coming back for Wiggins) though.

Evans, Scarponi and Gesink looking good too so this should be interesting.

Well! Even TT-phobes seem to have enjoyed that.

Alex D - absolutely made up for him. Guess he knows how to handle his career with the move to Movistar, a little better than some internet peeps after all

Nibali - much respect for that performace today

    Cuddles - solid

Hesjesal - no idea what happened there

    Gesink - decent

Wiggins - much disappointment, bad first sector with the puncture. I've decided that this is all payback for his big 2012. But seriously, karma, give the fella a break for the rest of the race, will you. However, he's up to 4th with just a sec off Gesink, and in the game - but only as long as last week wasnt representative of how he's going to ride the rest of the race. On the plus side he hammered that final, most difficult sector, which is a promising glimmer.

And JV getting himself in a pickle on Twatter tops it all off...

If Wiggo was not at or very near to 100% then they would not have pulled riders back yesterday.
He is not far off as today he would have won by 40 secs had it not been for bike change and nervous cornerring.
Then the thimes (Nibali aprat) would have been closer to expected.
The three of them (Uran, Wiggo and Haeno) still can make a race of this, we will see how good Astana are now for sure.
I would not attack them until the mountains, make Astana stew for a few days controling attacks.
If Astana gamble and not control all attacks could see non fancied rider make a big gain and sneak up from no where :D

Honestly I have no idea, Wiggins has to ride away from Nibali and the rest of Astana either with a train or alone. All Nibali has to do is stay with Wiggins and Evans and well...

It might not require totally different riding from Sky but the train will have to be an offensive train rather than a defensive one. Or maybe Wiggins has become this amazing climber and he is going to blow them all away up the Galibier, who knows?

Will be edge of the seat stuff anyway and at least people are hopefully not going to moan about things being boring.
