Fair play to Nibali, awesome TT performance.

Pressure on Sky to attack in the mountains now.

I think it's worse than that. Scarponi's come under the radar a little, but that's a really good ride. Whatever you think about his dubious past, he's a ballsy rider. I can see him going on at least one death or glory mission before the race is over.

    Yay for Dowsett. :D

    The race is ON folks.

Wow little Pozzovivo came in 20th in that TT, only two back from Hejsedal. Not your typical TT course.

Wiggins in 4th now 1 second behind Gesink.

So Wiggins blew the final climb of the TT away.

makes the uphill TT (21km) on stage 18 interesting...

Huge breakthrough for Dowsett. Pretty much guarantees him a solid contract for many years to come. His decision to quit Sky looking a very smart move right now!

If Evans form holds, it's between him and Nibali. But there are quite a few decent riders well in with a shout.

I'm forgetting the forum wisdom that Evans is past it for a second.

And if, as DB is telling us, Brad is in better form that for the Tour last year, everyone else must've been in absolutely toilet form, no?

Awesome second half by Wiggo, pity about the first half though.

Like the Movistar TT champs jersey Dowsett wears.

Looking forward to the week ahead a lot now. Very interesting GC.

That's just what I was about to speculate on...

Damn I was hoping to get a lot of work done over the next few weeks. I fear I will have to forsake my morning rides and get into the office early doors, because I'm not going to be getting any work done now between the hours of 14.30-17.30 (usually my peak time) for the next two weeks. :D :x

Great to see Nibali in the Maglia Rosa too. The Italians will love that. The fans will be out in their masses in the mountains. A few guys needing to gain time on the uphill finishes (Gesink, Evans, Hesjedal, Scarponi and of course Wiggins). Nicely poised race!

Nibali's to lose then. Don't see Evans pulling the time back in the mountains or Wiggins making enough back in the hill climb. Shame about Wiggins time loss yesterday as going into the mountains with a handful of seconds lead would have been perfect.

Where would Henao be in GC if he didn't wait for Wiggins yesterday?

    Game on for GC then...

Interesting to see how well Astana can look after Nibs, what Evans can do in the mountains if he can repeat his 2011 tour form, and how Wiggo can do being the underdog and having to take time somewhere... cant quite see ryder getting back up there now.

Turning out to be a top race...
  • If Wiggins climbs the steep stuff to come like he dealt with that last km, he's definitely not out of this yet. Plus that last mountain TT will be interesting.

Can't afford to let the bonuses go uncontested though.

IIRC Nibali injured a calf muscle in the Pyrenees. A fair proportion of his time loss was after that. Nibs has definitely improved in the TT this year though.

The strange thing is he kept drifting backwards on the hills in the earlier stages. It's not like all his losses were down to descents.

+1. Wiggins will be hoping for a quiet & dry day tomorrow surrounded by the team; then has Monday to recover before L'altopiano del Montasio on Tuesday.

With Henao and Uran decently placed, Sky would seem to be in a good position to put Nibali under a fair amount of pressure. It'll be interesting to see if they take the opportunity to attack him or whether they'll hope to take the time on the final time trial.
