Nothing wrong with a carrera though & their toolboxes & lifetime guarantee on tools is good.0 -

Think you'll find that as they do that makes them not.0

I never said it is. Quite the opposite - I said my bike was posher than I'd thought, since it came from Halfords, yet had a frame made by a quality manufacturer. Next time engage brain before reaching for the keyboard, lol.
As for my taste, I think you'll find that, in all matters aesthetic, it's impeccable.0 -

You'll always get brand snobs who can't see past a name though, and slag Carreras off, usually despite never having even looked at one properly. Mine's a 2007 Kraken - it has a frame from a quality manufacturer, a decent component spec for a budget bike (X5/X7 gears, Truvativ cranks and BB, XCR fork, Tektro disc brakes) and it cost me £220 brand new (bought just after the 2008 models had arrived in the stores). If anyone can't see past the name and see the value for money there then more fool them.
I have plenty of tools from Halfords Professional range (amongst other stuff from various other manufacturers) and they're excellent gear for the home mechanic - great quality and a lifetime guarantee. I have a cabinet from their Professional range too - well built, very smooth ball bearing drawer action, easily comparable to much more expensive cabinets:

Posher would indicate that it is posh in the first place (from Halfords) then posher than that now knowing it is made by Merida.0 -
The Carrera HT frames are made in the same factory as the Rockhoppers and weigh about the same, I guess that makes them no more or less 'posh' than a 'hopper.
The Carrera is a perfectly good frame, fairly light and strong, posh is irrelevant!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

And again, in English, lol? "Posher" does not imply that it was "posh in the first place". Saying that a Bentley is posher than a Yugo doesn't imply that the Yugo is posh. I said that my Carrera is posher than I'd thought - nothing in that statement says that I thought it was posh to start with, quite the opposite, if you infer from context. You really do need to think before reaching for the keyboard, lol.0 -

I know - if I was a brand snob then I wouldn't have bought the Carrera, regardless of what a bargain it was. It was just a tongue in cheek comment to reflect the fact that I'd learned that the frame was made by a quality manufacturer, which I didn't know before. It's a well finished, nice looking frame anyway, certainly looks like it cost more than it did, and as a newbie it's good enough for me.0 -
I do like carreras, i was actually massively shocked at the weight of one when i picked it up. It looked like it would be heavy, and it weighed nothing in comparison to my GT. (but the carrera was at least 10 years newer than it.)
I do like carrearas, i dont know what carrera it is, but i see one that has a nice electric blue paint job with white rims. Sexy as hell. I pulled up becide an immaculate carrera kraken before at the lights and the drivetrain and all the parts on it looked really really high spec. I distinctly remember it having a truvativ crank so it may have been the same as your one Kowalski.
Ive got a halfords spanner set and im totally happy with it. Chrome Vanadium, and they are nice and shiny.0 -

let they all seem to be "crappy" as ive heard
perhaps you should combine into one decent one0 -
Yep, the majority of them are absolutely shite. Ill get a photo of the fleet up here soon Btw, no one has seen them, they just assume they are shit because my main bike isnt all that amazing.
Nah, its not really worth it. The parts on most of them are not to my liking as they are crap. Im gonna look to throw 2 or 3 together and sell them for like £20...0 -

might as well jus sell them as scrap metal.
my main isn't amazing but it will get there sometime but for now its pretty decent I guess.0 -
True
My GT will be a million times sexier and have a higher spec, but youll have to wait about a month to see the finished result. Fucking exams...after that though. MAJOR BIKE TINKERING TIMEEE!0 -

Damn, looks like a different bike!! Bikes to change alot when you change the tyres from slick to offroad or the other way round.
Looks really nice Im quite fond of the spoke layout in your wheels.
Ill be getting a red anodized bottle cage for my GT after the respray. Will look the bollox.0 -

was considering getting black shiny rotors seems bit pointless seems my current rotors are all but brand new :?0 -
Yeah, you can use that money for essential parts or performance upgrades.
I just noticed, why is your seat facing up that much? Surely you should have it a bit more flat?0 -

the whole of seat part is pretty fucked.
im came off while doing a quick forest ride on a small U shaped trial (was using the slick tyres in rain and mud BIG mistake) recorded some of it on my phone stopped recording jus before crash.
needless to say the seat post/seat and a encounter with a tree trunk never been the same since0 -
Ohh, haha. Its worth investing in a new seat post in that case, and maybe a new seat while your at it? But if you are happy with your seat, then no need.
Do you use a handlebar mounted phone holster thing?0 -
I've never known people use disc lock on push bikes.0

no I jus jammed it between front mud guard and fork with a little bit of force it stay put for the entire time besides the falling off bit
probably get a new seat post and saddle and etc some time next month when I get payed again0 -
Chunkers1980 wrote:I've never known people use disc lock on push bikes.
people tend to nick your wheels around here.
seems 2 d locks for the wheels would weight even more and no where to put them I jus put the locks on disc's after all there connected to the wheels :P0 -
If your wheels are any good and worth nicking, you can just take the wheel and unscrew the disc, so seems a bit pointless, especially if you have shite wheels, similar to yours0
