It just looks like some people don't like riders from Sky winning races

I think you have it. You can almost picture it "oh **** a Sky rider has just won with a well timed attack from a long way out. He didn't have a train or anything - what can I do to demean this achievment? Oh, he refused to let someone suck his wheel whilst recovering from bridging a gap that'll do"

But a True Champion (let's say Bertie for the sake of argument) would have said "OK then, sit on my wheel for a while to recover and then we can race it out man to man once you feel better".

Honestly, you couldn't make up some of the complaints from posters on here. Moaning for the last few seasons on how no-one has the balls to attack more than 1 or 2km from the finish and then when someone does (presumably because the person is in a black and turquoise kit) moaning that they didn't take a passenger with them

Proper little Sky fan boy aren't you. You should ask them for a signed jersey then ride around on your club with it on.

    Thanks for your contributions.

Or perhaps trying to add balance. I don't have favoured teams and to be honest I don't like Froome. I was much happier seeing Dan Martin win than I would have been seeing Wiggins take the race. You just come across as seriously bitter with Sky to the point that you look for something to criticise when they produce exactly the sort of ride you usually drool over. Your dislike for the brand seems to be clouding your ability to assess a performance on its merit.

I am actually quite clear in my opinions of racing. And even if someone had an opinion you couldn't quantify that doesn't matter as that is not why we watch this sport.

But glad you like the photos. I would post some from this stage but I'll leave that up to the Sky lovers.

While I think the tactics (if they were in fact discussed before hand as Porte said they were) were sound and gave Sky a great result, I just can't warm to Froome. It was a great ride from him but it smacked a little of spoilt child much like the last mountain stage in the TdF last year. When he should maybe have been riding for the Yellow jersey wearer he clearly wanted (and was good enough) to ride away but that doesn't make him a team player in my book and in that respect I wonder if he'll get the same support from his team mates as Wiggo did?

JTL has already proved that he can cut the mustard (Worlds anyone?) and there'd be loads of name calling if he came into the Pro Tour ranks kicking everyones backside. I think he'll be fine when the time comes.

Was going to bring this up in the face of all the "oh, looks like JTL can't cut it at this level" remarks.

He was five seconds behind Gilbert (and ahead of people like Nibali, Gerrans, and J-Rod) after 6 hours of hard racing.

I don't know what kind of shape he'll be in for the Ardennes classics but if he doesn't show well in them it won't be because he hasn't got the talent to ride at this level.

Sounds like a dialogue from a cheap action/porn film.

Anyway, mountain out of molehill stuff. When's Porte going to be a GT leader then?

Next year...I trust and hope. Surdave's probably having to make some kind of early commitment to it now as part of Porte's new contract negotiations. I think the Columbian duo will get the nod for the Vuelta this year, after helping Wiggins at the Giro (I think). Porte was shattered at last year's Vuelta after helping Wiggins at the Tour, and only really recovered by the penultimate stage.

Luckily I looked at that link before I clicked on it

I do get frustrated with this forum sometimes, but i've picked things out of my nose with more intelligence than your average CN poster.

Irritates me that the likes of Vaughters use CN as a platform for anti-doping discussion too - do these people not know any better?

Even after we sung the praises of the BR forum to Mr Vaughter's he still hasn't paid us a visit, bloody rude if you ask me.

Just had a random thought, what would happen if one day Garmin and Sky were to merge... Festinagirl's head might actually explode.

FG was quite complimentary of Froomes win yesterday, even hinted that she was changing her mind about Sky...

Hopefully, would be grouse as if he could race for himself. From an outsider's pov, he seems genuinely content at Sky. Also wonder which it will be. Should be the Giro but would depend on how Wiggins goes this year, I guess, or if Froome pulls a Wiggins and targets it.

Frenchie - the other day you did say you were not going to talk about Sky on race threads again...

Check out my posts from about page 5 or so when it started and ask yourself whether I have said anything inflammatory? I described the race fairly impartially, posted some quotes about the race, then responded a little about Froome's comments. There was a lot of goading on this thread but I haven't responded to it and played the other side and stayed calm in my other responses. I could have though and have plenty other things to say and post about the subject but have refrained from doing so.

I know, I nearly choked on my real ale.

Chris Froome can finally sleep at night, now he has her stamp of approval. Though at the moment he might have better things to do in bed than sleep.

Sorry, having moaned about Sky chit chat I have now been lured into it by the usual BR bad influences, be gone you demons!

I should apologise to the twitter sphere for no longer providing tweets with enough citrussy acid to cut through the general fatty guff you get on there....

I may disagree with what Frenchie says sometimes, and his views on sky are rather different to mine... But his posts are always interesting and his pictures are always welcome in breaking up long patches of text.

Yeah, i'm not sure how good a gauge it is, but the list of winners since it went "International" is pretty distinguished.

This years field wasn't that stellar though.

Please stop trying to reason with FF. He doesn't like Sky for some reason - we get it. It's beyond boring now.
