After a post here yesterday I got to thinking about wether anyone here would be interested in an afternoon technical chat with a world leader in Carbon Technology ?
Possibly could make a day of it, maybe a 40-60k ride followed by a tech talk and BBQ in the summer ?

But what would I do with the other 22 hours of my day?

The OP puts up something that is actually rather interesting and all folk can do is criticise!

Even I can see the positive in this. I would be up for it.

    I'm vegan.

40k-60k is not worth getting out of bed for (TTs excluded), regardless of who is speaking. Make it an interesting 200k and even I will show.

How many people on here do you actually think ride 120 miles in one session?

Ok so 40k is short, but come on 200k!

A decent ride starts at a metric century. If I'm going to have to displace myself it better be a damn sight more.

That may well be the case but I still feel that you are expecting a lot of many on here.

50 or 60 miles is a fair enough distance for a social ride of this nature surely?

Haha Pretty much my diet! Providing you throw in some Amaranth.

OP, Kind offer btw. Not often you see acts of hospitality and generosity online.

Love quinoa. The other slow release carbs I eat are rice, spelt pasta, and sweet potatoes. Other than that it's all fruit (a ridiculous amount) and veg. I don't eat soya products- bad for you (spikes insulin).

@OP- audaxes are social, but the club rides I go on are never less than 60 miles at a good clip.

For heaven's sake leave the fella alone, it's a perfectly valid topic. Or come up with your own ride and post-ride entertainment, then you can dictate the distance ;)

A get together is overdue... If a BBQ is thrown in, that can only be good...

I said I would go if there is a decent ride, and I stand by that (as long as the date doesn't conflict). I just can't stand incessant whining.

How far is it from Cardiff to Stratford? You could get a nice early start and no excuses.

    Good offer BTW.

Indeed. I am still miffed that I am already booked for your suggested ride out in Oxfordshire/Worcestershire

Your a fruitcake for sure, I didnt whine, I offered you free food, free drink, an opportunity to meet fellow forum users and a talk from a highly respected tech.
Id even throw in a ride in my car if that made the difference

Seriously, I dont know whats up with you.

    About 110 miles.

This is what I propose: I will ride to Startford for a noon arrival, go on this 40-60k ride, listen to some dude talk about the best way to layup carbon nuts, eat some food (I assume my dietary requirements will be catered to), and ride back.

This is on the basis that the date doesn't conflict with other events (24hr, LEL, WCA TT events, etc.).

Looking for the article, but there's more to my avoidance of soya than that. I'll post it when I find it, but in the meantime have a look at this: http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/170-scientific-reasons-to-lose-the-soy-in-your-diet/

I would never tell someone to change a diet that's working for them as all of us have different physiological responses to food.

The weird thing is, I seriously have a lot of respect for the fact you can m pick out a 300mile ride in a day but haven't you just done exactly what you and a few others have blamed me for doing (although I haven't actually done it in reality) by bragging in what you can do/have capability of ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being proud of achievements but I chose not to defame people who achieve certain things I or others aspire too. I can't help the fact I have a half decent lifestyle just like you have great capacity to cycle huge distances but lets keep this on an open playing field and be fair about things.

I kind of understand it on other threads, but not this one. You're basically inviting everyone to a nice get together with a social ride and free food/drink plus a [potentially] awesome talk, and they're just moaning about it. Oh well.

And by the way, there's no way I could make it (even though I would absolutely love to).

I have no idea what's going on here.

Yeah... my question was probably rhetorical... you see Soya can't spike insulin. That's impossible :)
