    Next installment is out:
    http://cyclingtips.com.au/2013/06/the-secret-pro-3/

I see many people are asking whether he was the former Grand Tour rider ready to go down that I spoke of in my last column. Nope — the timing was just coincidental. That news hasn’t been released.

Speaking of retired riders from the Eastern Bloc, Denis Menchov retired shortly after my last column. I find it strange that a guy in the twilight of his career would retire in the middle of his 2-million-euro-a-year contract just because of a knee injury. Why wouldn’t he just do the recovery then ride out his contract? Is anyone else asking that question?

In contrast to the Vini-Fantini clowns, Nibali is a pure gentleman. He’s quiet and keeps to himself in the peloton, and he’s an absolute class act.

He’s a rider that’s always been good and certainly hasn’t come out of nowhere. I’m seeing a few tweets about rumours of Nibali testing positive after the Giro. I don’t know where that’s coming from because it surely isn’t the talk around my circles.

Glad I have been a huge Nibali fan for a long while.

There was a photo I saw of Nibali celebrating with Vinokourov on the podium at the end of the Giro (see below) which reminded me of something I thought was worth sharing. Most people don’t realise that Vino is actually a fantastic guy, and once you know him, that’s hard to look past. It’s hard to believe he’s a cheat because he’s actually unbelievably generous and kind.

Watching the posturing between the likes of Pierre Rolland and Thomas Voeckler has certainly been entertaining. You always know when the television broadcast begins because it’s the only time you’ll see them near the front.

[Cavendish] is practically unbeatable. I honestly don’t know how you can beat him in a sprint, particularly now that he’s got a team that’s working for him (which he didn’t last year).

Good piece. Really interesting to get the take from within. Seems Sky make it easy for all the other teams to have the same tensions yet be ignored by the media. Menchov?

That is really interesting, especially the bits about how the peloton feel about Froome, and the previously big-hitters now not doing it.

    Great stuff.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    ooh I liked that

Good insight into what the peloton feels about Froome, dopers, and ex-dopers etc.

The previous generation of riders, who we all now know were dopers, would put in five or six attacks and then ride to the top of the HC mountain without even being out of breath

This is the exact description of Froome up the Ventoux!

Except that Froome made 2 attacks and had to be given oxygen at the top of the mountain he was so out of breath, but hey, don't let facts ruin your fun...

Indeed doesn't even look like he is trying.

And that oxygen he had at the top must have just been for giggles.

How many photos do you want of proven dopers collapsing or with their suffer faces strapped?

Only an idiot would deny Froome was not attacking multiple times.

Only and idiot would focus on one part of a larger statement, take it out of context and build an argument around it.

We weren't talking about others riders FF. You stated that Froome wasn't even out of breath at the top of Ventoux. I posted a picture which would seem to show a different case.

And I believe the statement was five or six attacks and not be out of breathe. No one denies Froome attacked, isn't that what you have been asking Sky to do for a while? But he made three attacks and was thoroughly goosed at the end of the stage, to such an extent that he required oxygen. A little different to the statement you highlighted don't you think? Anyway enough of the doping chat ruining another thread.

Which is the dodgy French team that has issues in the Duauphine and now isn't too hot?

Yeah, but to paraphrase an old saying, why let the truth get in the way of a good obsession

It doesnt take much for the Froome/Sky brigade to start hammering away at their keyboards in response...

No more talk of it here from me as this thread will not be derailed.

So he thinks O'Grady is cool enough but those who clearly were doped and won big races and stopped doping today shouldn't be applauded as they made money on being doped? O'Grady didn't make money? O'Grady didn't get new contracts on his 'potential'? Not even a word on how pathethic it is he retires now that he had his back against the wall? There's no way he would have admitted anything without the french investigation. He was a keeper of the omerta just months ago denying everything,

Must be Aussie this guy despite saying 'you Australians' in the article.

Europcar I would have thought. They had some issues with Rolland's cortisol levels at the Dauphine.

Europcar - also the little issue with Rolland's TUE at TdS...

Koen De Kort seems to be most people's favourite - largely based on the fact that he has a column on the same website. Adam Hansen is another name that often crops up.

I found the distinction a little odd, Stuey won PR in 2007 after all. you put him in the Big Hitter category.

Exactly. Hard to decide if it's more hilarious or pathetic to see frenchie reduced to this sort of thing. Wish he'd stick to posting photos and not feel the need to start spouting his usual crap at the slightest opportunity.
