I will say that she has quite short bibs (as evidenced by photos on previous page) as there is no tan line. I am jealous.
Very pleased for her recent win.Correlation is not causation.0 -

There's a little spat developing between Lizzie Armitstead and Jonathan Vaughters on twitter right now.
Got me wondering, when Nicole Cooke talked about the difficulties she'd had getting a fair deal or even getting her wages from several of the teams she'd ridden for, did she have Vaughters' Garmin women's team in mind? I know Armitstead rode for the same team.I have a policy of only posting comment on the internet under my real name. This is to moderate my natural instinct to flame your fatuous, ill-informed, irrational, credulous, bigoted, semi-literate opinions to carbon, you knuckle-dragging f***wits.0 -

Nicole never rode for Vaughters. Lizzie Armitsted and Emma Pooley rode for Cervelo/Garmin-Cervelo for a couple of years till Vaughters ended the team late in 2011, saying that it was no longer financially viable to run it. Emma Pooley in particular has been very vocal about Vaughters not having given a stuff about the womens team. I dont know about wages, but as I mentioned on the Giro St 8 thread, things still rankle Pooley like Vaughters never having provided a power meter she was promised as part of her Cervelo contract - things like that.0 -

She wasn't given a power meter? WTF? I mean really WTF? This sort of sh*t just makes me so angry. Especially as JV tries to construct this image as the 'progressive' man of the sport. :xCorrelation is not causation.0 -

I remember Emma mentioning the power meter in a magazine interview recently. All this kind of second-class treatment of women pro riders was behind Rochelle Gilmoure's dream of setting up a womens team that would provide professional support for the riders, a proper salary etc - because Gilmoure herself had so many bad experiences on teams.
And that's what she's gone and done with Wiggle-Honda.0 -

Which then lets itself down by having its riders race UK chippers...Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -

What should they be racing? half this thread has been about the lack of quality womens's races, properly supported and covered.I have a policy of only posting comment on the internet under my real name. Pro races... The same as you don't expect Dowsett to turn up to a Regional A race, in Men's racing that is of course banned, but it's fine for women? You don't make a race "quality" by entering one rider of a completely different ability and support to everyone else in the field, that's likely to do more to discourage racing... it turns a race into a TT, the whole point of categorizing races is defeated.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -

Which as I'm sure you know is to allow the track trio of King, Trott and Rowsell to get as much road race and TT experience as possible to add to their European race program for the team. As Wiggle-Honda have also been riding races such as Tour of Qatar, Flanders, as well as a lot of stage races and 1 dayers, and now the UCI World Cup races, with a good degree of success, I don't think that the Wiggle-Honda is getting sullied by the GB girls riding some chippers.
Alex Dowsett regularly rides TTs here in his team kit - think he's sullying the name of Movistar?0 -
I know a number of the women who were at the event with Laura Trott today; from what I've heard none of them were discouraged by her being there.
Emma Trott raced against the men in the 2/3/4 race anyway. – http://www.maphotography.co.uk/images/E ... 5-2013.jpg0 -
A mate of mine was racing at Crystal Palace a couple of weeks ago when Jo Rowsell was also racing. She got a massive cheer from everyone - none of the other riders were annoyed at all, they got a bit of a buzz from her being there.0

She raced with the men... She very specifically didn't do the womens race (which isn't that unusual for strong women on that circuit) and that is exactly the sort of thing which is to be encouraged, finding a race which is of an appropriate category - and due to the power curve differences that is 2/3/4 men unless there's a mountain...Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0 -

Pro-races? Yes because there are so many of them. Are the women supposed to sit around and wait for someone to maybe, possibly put on a pro-race for them? Or enter what races they can?
Honestly women cyclists can't win. There aren't enough top level races for them but when they enter other races they get criticized.
And I'm not sure it would discourage people actually. It would inspire me. Having competed in a different sport riding something other than a bike where I competed and sometimes beat Olympic medal winners it can be great for motivation.
Right I'm off out to ride my bike.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Oi, the race Dani King rode last Sunday wasn't a chipper. It was a brilliantly organised Regional A that I just happened to organise . I was supposed to race her yesterday but I cried off. Incidentally she was right up there in the sprint in both races against some good 2nd cat men. I know with my race she was a late entry as she was supposed to have been racing in Belgium but the race was cancelled so it sounds like the problem for them might just be a lack of continental racing?0
