Hopefully the physio's are doing a good job of keeping your pecker up!
metaphorically yes... sadly with any break in the T region, pecker and up in the same sentence becomes a bit of an oxymoron

I did wonder that - well done for being so honest. Fortunately the rate at which medical science is progressing, I certainly wouldn't be writing the "old chap" off just yet. Stay optimistic and positive!

Good to hear that your feeling well OB,

The good thing about Stoke Mandeville is that it is near here http://www.stokemandevillestadium.co.uk/ which will be perfect in the future!

    thanks.

i'm working on the basis there's nothing i can't do, just need to find a way to do it, and that might need some serious 'out of the box' thinking.

Interesting how we cope. During my son's cancer treatment the "nightmare" became "normality" for us - him in his wheelchair, days at a time away in Glasgow (180 miles away), a house full of drugs, no hair etc etc

If I've learned anything, it's that we humans have a much much higher capacity for coping than we think possible before disaster strikes.

@ OB - sorry to hear your rehab will mean it's harder for people to visit. Tougher for you and tougher for them

OB. When you move there, let us know how they feel about cyclists turning up, and if you'd mind random internet visitors.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Optimisticbiker you are absolutely right !! My wife is very independent and even drives an adapted car with hand operated throttle/brake,something we never dreamed she would be able to do !

Meanredspider I know what you mean,we only find out what capacity we have to adapt/cope when something life changing happens....the wife amazes me every day!!

The NHS suffers from blind micro-management from above and chronic lack of empowerment from below.

Can't wait to get out to specialist unit...

I'm very lucky that I've had very minimal experience of a general ward but I'm always staggered by how unpleasant it is and how negative it has to be for the patients. Yeah yeah, I know, its due to cost savings, but what the cost differential between having many patients in 1 ward but with longer recuperation or patients in more comfortable surroundings but recovering more quickly?

Good to hear OB. Hopefully now you're there you'll have fewer bad days caused by external influences and things can progress more.
Keep up the good work. I often think of you, but not in a creepy way.

Hope all the poking, probing and scanning went well OB. I'm sure Stoke Mandeville is a lot better than a general ward in c(sh)ity hospital.
