For some serious workshop envy, have a look at Frank Howarth's YouTube channel.
He does have some nice gadgets.

Norm Abram on TV was another with a collection of shop tools to die for...

My (new) shed is approximately 170 square metres of floor space and has a separate power board from the house, including a 3 phase circuit... and it's dangerously empty...

I thought i was doing well with 7 square metres of shed. WTF does a 170 square metre shed even look like? that must be about the size of my house, garage and patio!!!

Christ! That is indeed twice the size of the ground floor of our house + garage. Surely the term shed has an upper size limit? Wouldn't it more accurately be described as a hangar, light industrial unit or commercial warehouse?
It is a *bit* bigger than we need. :D And it's VERY ugly, but that's fixable! Low res photo from previous owner with some of his old stuff laying about outside for scale..

That 170 m2 area doesn't include the bit at the right hand end which is another 35 m2 or so, because that has no power supply (yet) and is poorly sealed. Think that bit will be the firewood store basically for now.

Quite apt given where Wheelspinner is from.

They cut on the pull stroke rather than the push stroke, so the blades can be thinner, and they require less effort to cut through a given piece of wood. The ryoba has cross cut teeth on one side and rip cut on the other, which is dead handy.

I do that all the time. I often use whatever measurement system is closest to what I need. So for instance I will use 3ft of 25mm x 50mm, rather than the exact metric measurement. If I'm measuring a gap which needs to be filled I'll just lay the tape down and see which scale fits best and use that.

Hail stones falling here -- was sunny earlier with the cats sun bathing then when the hail started to fall they lay on for a while hoping it would stop but had to give up in the end and move their lazy asses and take cover.

Successfully getting my wife to go on a two week holiday with only carry on luggage.

Can you get her to phone my wife? The number of times we've had to juggle stuff between suitcases cos she's overpacked! In fact I should put that in the trivial things that annoy you thread.

You will not succeed pre holiday. When you return you have to question how much of the stuff taken was actually used. Then reinforce that until it sinks in.

Perhaps you have seen my post in the 'Annoy' thread re overnight bag? Unbelievable.
I have had some success in reducing the size of suitcase she thinks she needs so given time, I may yet get there.
When she sees my meagre luggage she will invariably ask."What if you want such and such an item?"
Simple. If I don't take it, I can't wear it and will wear something else.
