How eager the hound is to go upstairs, he sits at the gate waiting for me when I come out of the bathroom in the morning, then looks really pleased with himself when he's scuttling up them all to snooze on my bed for 10 minutes

Watching the hound from a few hundred metres away react to the whistle and come running back at full speed with little regard for terrain features such as ravines and fences. It's amazing what he's not scared of jumping over when you consider that only yesterday he got spooked by a bin...

Daylight blasts round Glentress after work!

Our dear old collie is now quite deaf and her eyesight's going too. Sometimes she loses track if she's found a particularly tasty pile of horse sh1t, and then starts looking round in panic even though I'm only 10m away. On the plus side she's no longer spooked by fireworks or thunderstorms.

Poor pup, although the firework thing would be very handy...

To add to my points below, the fact I can nearly always count on the hound to be staring directly at me (when he's not asleep ~50% of the time). It's a little disconcerting when I haven't seen him in 20 minutes then spot him hiding under the dining table staring at me, weirdo

Perhaps you have seen my post in the 'Annoy' thread re overnight bag? Unbelievable.
I have had some success in reducing the size of suitcase she thinks she needs so given time, I may yet get there.
When she sees my meagre luggage she will invariably ask."What if you want such and such an item?"
Simple. If I don't take it, I can't wear it and will wear something else.

Tell her she'll have no room to put all the nice things your going to buy her -- works for me

Surely that would just lead to the first case going into an even bigger one to be used for the return?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The hilarious jokes I made about my friend's mum having to give up her cricketing career after ball tampering. I am extremely amusing and intelligent.

Resurrected my old mini-disc player this afternoon, but found although it played it wouldn't eject the disc. A quick Google reveals it to be normal on these old decks so took it to bits to find a tiny belt well past its best, ended up in town looking for anything that might work, but with no joy. Walking back to the car past a big pet shop juggling whether it was worth a look what with them just closing, and the youth pushing trolleys back in saw my puzzled face and asked if he could help. 10 seconds later he's in a box in a corner fishing out exactly what I need, a square section belt just the right size. Turns out they come into the shop on something or other, they normally bin them but keep a handful just in case. I could have hugged him, but restrained myself.

Now back at home after a successful fit and rebuild with a working MD deck, working through some discs including one treasure trove of the kids singing when they were little, with OH & me in there too. In stereo!!!! And some John Peel, Andy Kershaw and other stuff from 15 years ago.

Or if you've a PVR with a DVD recorder in you can save to the hd on that and even edit it there before saving to the DVD or USB.
PVR's usually have most video input connections available handy.

One swallow doesn't make a summer.
    Makes a good weekend though.

I can't help you on that one. It was flying rather fast and may in any case have been a male.

Anyway it certainly ain't summery but then it is only Friday.

    Made me smile.......
Yesterday in a local supermarket in rural Lincolnshire I overheard the following......
Middle aged man inadvertently blocked the path of a young lady with his shopping trolley.
    " Ooops sorry sweetheart".
    "That is alright love".
Made my day, I thought nice to know that odious Political Correctness has not percolated to this corner of the UK yet.
