  • On the weather thing... A clip on the news showed the sea and in all honesty looked like a force 6 or 7 to me.
Back in the day the boys would be turning up on the beach with their sinkers!

    4.5m2 or 5m2 weather?

Sitting down on the train in the seat next to someone who is trying to spread themselves out to deter anyone sitting there. In this morning's case it was even better as after he muttered a bit when I sat partially on his leg that he wouldn't move he then got wound up by the conductor asking for his ticket as he'd already shown it once.

I'm on the 'roids, man. So will I need a TUE? Maybe I should ask Dan Roan.

Nasal / sinus congestion for near enough 3 months. Enough is enough.

'Bad weather' keeps £3bn carrier in Portsmouth port

A fresh to strong breeze with gusts of up to 37 knots (43mph) was forecast in the Solent for Tuesday, according to the BBC coastal weather bulletin.
The sea state was described as "moderate" while visibility was "very good becoming excellent"

Admiral Lord West, said the carrier would always be available in a crisis, but it would be "stupid" to conduct sea trials when the weather was "iffy".

    How sensible.

Close. I was guessing that by using the term sinker, Solosuperia was referring to windsurfing. So sail sizes

That makes sense, I always attributed the word "sinker" to the big weights used by beachcasters when fishing. Rough weather drives some surprisingly big fish inshore for those prepared to get a little damp :)
Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)
Ribble Gran Fondo, Campagnolo Centaur (winter bike)
    Van Raam 'O' Pair
Land Rover (really nasty weather  )

That's what i thought too. I didn't make a connection between sinker and wind surfing.

  • Most larger windsurfers would float when stationary provided the volume of the board was more than your body weight and rig weight in kilograms. Boards used for rough seas (wave sailing) were normally low volume, hence would sink when stationary.

Watching Tears For Fears Radio 2 In Concert from last night Thursday on BBC iPlayer catchup and
    a) realising I know all these songs
    b) hearing and seeing them put in a v good live set all these years later.

  • Top work Finchy. Ace result in a proper degree.
On a related note, Mrs BBGeek was allowed to put letters after her name, being accredited to a professional organisation this week. Well proud.
I love it when others do well, and I can congratulate them from the comfort of my sofa.

    A proper Sussex Bonfire.

The whole village was out on Saturday evening/night, plus a couple of thousand friends. There's a real buzz. Plenty to eat and drink and as an added bonus loads raised for charity too.

...and when it dies a loud, oily and smoky death you'll be searching for a Rover V8 to replace that dodgy lump.

Did you have an inappropriate effigy to burn, or are those things all in the past?

No, ours tends to be traditional in the form of a 12 ft high "Guy" Other societies do like to push the boundaries of taste a little more. The main Lewes societies will reveal theirs on Saturday where I'm expecting there to be several Trumps/Junckers/Mays/Johnsons/Kims or Corbyns

Not some much cheered up as completely bemused. ...happened to be in Winchester yesterday and needed to use the gentlemens facilities. Once entered I was met with piped classical music ! Imagine it. Peeing to Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries.
Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.

I always find taking a dump to "Pomp and Circumstance" most effective for bowel evacuation. That's probably just me, though.

I am not sure how widespread it is nowadays. The Hurst Arms in Eastbourne used to serve it.
Had a quick look and it doesn't seem to exist  Perhaps it has been replaced with the 'Old Ale':
