Been getting plagued by latest bout of nuisance calls from debt chaser firm. Our BT landline number got (re)assigned to us in 2011, clearly previous 'owner' had been a bit naughty with finances. Get pulses of these calls, assume that firm n buys the bad debt, chases for a bit, gives up, sells bad debt on to firm n+1, and repeat. 21st century Britain, dontcha just love it.

Anyway, the cheer up factor is that getting well ticked by the barrage of automated calls every effing day, got a contact email address, fired off a snotogram more in hope than expectation of any remedial action, and lo and behold an actual person has emailed back apologising and stopping the calls. Did not expect that.

Until firm n+1 takes up the challenge...

Travelling in the Club Lounge on a P & O Ferry. Only 1.5 hour journey but the best £12 I've spent for the comfort, quiet and clean toilet!

Football fans crying when their team lose a match, it makes me properly laugh.

What's the absolute best is if they've been winning, let's say for a good while they've been a goal up, and they've all been singing and boisterous. Then, in the last couple of minutes of play they concede two goals and lose. The pictures of them then all gutted and the camera focussing on ones that are crying ...now, watching that might be one of the best things ever.

    :)

My favourite part of the football season is the final day of the season when one or two clubs get relegated (one of them usually has a "glorious history!") and the cameras are panning around the stadium looking for fat blokes crying, it doesn't get much better than that!

Yes, that's brilliant as you're guaranteed tears :)

Any fan of any sport crying about a result is hilarious to be fair but football fans going from aggressive rowdy joyous chanting to broken tears in minutes is fantastic. Idiots. It makes some football worth watching!

This not really on topic, but my daughter recently told me that one of her fellow students at university had the surname Scaramanga. He was the the grandson of the Scaramanga that Ian Fleming named the Bond villain after. That's pretty cool ain't it?

    Too early. After midnight.
  • Mrs BBGeek has been off work sick for a bit. Two of her friends got married today (from the same workplace) and she wanted to go along to wish them luck. We didn't have an invite but saw the groom looking nervous and the bride arrive. Grooms always look nervous, and brides look amazing, don't they? Took all of ten minutes, and Mrs BBGeek has been smiling all day.
Anyway, that's the point. I admire their optimism. Crazy kids.

Just spent a couple of hours at the MoMA (museum of modern art) in New York.
One exhibit was a snow shovel hanging from the ceiling. The amusing bit was that it was the 4th version of the shovel after the original went missing. So how does that work? As surely it is not an original piece of art. Not withstanding the fact that how does a shovel constitute a work of art.
Any how had a real good laugh at some other stuff like a stuffed sheep with a car tyre round it's belly. And the real pi55 taker....a giant canvas painted white and titled 'White" and another work by same artist (?) which was 6 individual canvases in a row all painted white and titled 'White 2'.

Modern Art. Is it taking the pixx or am I just missing something.

Does a piece of art have to be totally non-functional? Can a well designed item not be a piece of art? Not seen this particular shovel so can't comment on that but when does something go from being art to purely functional? Surely there is quite a lot of crossover.

I'd better check that it isn't a forgery, although I did buy it in good faith.
