Pinno - It does look a bit £4.99 from Halfords though (ie. just a bit cr4p). Thanks anyway.

The point is, you are not resigned to a 'sticky badge'.

You will get over this engine noises thing Cowsham.
In an electric car, you could always make your own noises, you know; "broom broom broom broooooo... oooooo.......oooom, broom.. eeeeeeee*"

But does it come with an option that makes the exhaust sound louder in adjustable increments ?

    Indeed it does!

A foot pedal to the right of the foot brake. It has the added benefit of allowing one to adjust the velocity at which one proceeds. One can choose to go faster or slower.

No I think the idea is that it shouldn't go faster just sound faster.

What with speed limiters and data recorders becoming mandatory on new cars from 2022, I can see why features like this will become popular :)

Good point but I recon cars will be all electric in a few years and the noise will be compulsory to let peds know you are approaching.

I think there are proposals for noises at low speed. Not needed on the road as most of the car noise is from the tyres and wind.

Better if they do both :) I think the exhaust mode button my car must be a safety feature to warn dozy pedestrians.

At long last a new Rammstein single 'Deutschland'. Brilliant production both musically and for the mini film 'video'. What really amuses me is the controversy the video will court. It is certainly going to give them airtime on the news channels in the Fatherland. You can judge for yourself below, but from my point I think it brilliantly portrays with masses of symbolism their love and hate for the country of their birth.

    Blue Planet Live.
More of a chuckle at the inevitable.
At the end of Sunday's episode they were filming from a beach in Oz and releasing half a dozen baby turtles.
As the little critters were labouring in the sand towards the sea and the presenter talking about how they will hopefully live for a 100 years. I said to the Goo clan, "what's the betting a sea gull will swoop in and nick one for dinner?" Right on cue in swoops Jonathan Seagull, and was last seen running behind the presenter with his dinner clenched in his beak.

It was the presenter's fault as well, she gave it a helping had out of a rut that seemed to attract the gull.

How is that even possible? I think jammers are illegal and SS pubs don't have enough bouncers to enforce it.

Dunno the ins and outs of it, just read it earlier. He does have some rules in his pubs that don't happen in other breweries so maybe it becomes self policing amongst the locals.

The "no jogging bottoms after 6pm" is one that gets enforced in a Smith's pub I frequent and the no swearing certainly seems to be observed by the clientele.

Only pub I've ever been chucked out of was a Sam Smiths. Got there with my youngest in a buggy - sign on the door said 'no pushchairs', so we had the feeling it wasn't going to be a family friendly place. It was pretty empty inside with just a few quite old people in. We were going to eat, so asked if they had a high chair for the youngest which they didn't, so we unfolded the buggy to sit her in for when food would come. Then went to the bar to order, and my father-in-law explained to me that Sam Smiths doesn't serve anything other than their own drinks, even the spirits are their own. The owner then snapped, and told us he'd had enough and we should leave. We had a lovely meal elsewhere at a welcoming lively pub.

Coefficient of drag, rolling resistance etc for dummies aside, it's an interesting hypothetical.
There was no mention of a head wind.
    It raises some other questions:
What would be the optimum weight of the cyclist? and... the optimum frontal drag?
Would the cyclist be able to assume the most aerodynamic position for the whole distance?

In my imagination, I have sketched a bike with an ironing board gaffer taped to the saddle and handlebars so that the cyclist can lie flat and be comfortable. I hope he/she does not require a piddle at some point because that would really mess things up. Perhaps a hole in the middle of the ironing board? What would the decrease in rolling resistance if the piddle got on to the tyre(s)? Would one have to have a variable (decreased) slope so that during urination, speed would remain constant?

Working for a client yesterday and having her express her pleasure in progress achieved. She has a seriously ill husband, who was taken back into hospital by paramedics while I was there, and what I was doing took a little bit of pressure off her. Gave me a sense of satisfaction and cheered me up.

And now is sleeting, cold, windy, grey and miserable...
