Mc Quaid is really annoying me presently.....

Hah! The thing with Vino is that he so rarely says anything so there is little to get annoyed about. The first thought that went through my head at.the Olympics when I saw.him break away.was more along the lines of "Oh yeah, that guy!"

Plus, when he got done, it was such a blatant fail that it was funny. I'm surprised the popeye.theme.didn't play as all his dads blood shot.into.his muscles! That, plus his attitude of "everyone does this, why are you suddenly picking in me?" Cos at the end of the day, he had a point!

  • Yeah Vino is somewhat comical. I can imagine him doing some sort of advert for elixir of youth serum as he never seems to age. He looks about 15, facially.

And I missed the Olympic RR due to moving. When I left one flat "all was in order" according to Operation get Cav the Gold with the Brits plus Bernie controlling the front, when I got to the new flat and finally turned on the TV all I saw was Vino crossing the line.
    Correlation is not causation.

I couldnt believe it but if they let him and sparticus plus all the others get away i knew the master plan was flawed.

    Good result for him.

The thing is with Lance is that my dislike has been going on for so long now that I basically just feel nothing about him. I genuinely think he has some kind of mental deficiency. My feelings when the USADA report was published were just ones of sadness, and I'd rather just forget about him than using anymore energy hating him.

I can't stand Contador as a person. The fact that he completely ignores the doping ban and proclaims that he won the 2010 Tour and 2011 Giro is pathetic. The total disregard he has for doping verdicts and the seemingly indifference to driving the doping culture out of cycling is bad enough, but for the best GT rider of the generation to hold these views is unforgiveable. His comments about Lance just about sum up it up.

I'm also beginning to get a real dislike for Voeckler. The commentators laughing after he puts on a stupid gurning face for the 10 millionth time is getting boring now. And I don't like how he constantly makes way too dramatic gestures or shouts at people for no reason.

    There are others.

Went for Cav. Contador etc lying scumbag drugs cheats, but what the hell.

Cav's only a sprinter amongst a number of other sprinters. And sprinters are boring. They distort the whole sport with their gurning efforts to cross the line a tyre's width ahead of another boring sprinter. And then everyone gets all excited about "The Manx Missile", the fastest man in the world on a bike, blah, blah, blah...boring.

And then idiots ask you ('cos you're following the TdF) "Why isn't Cav in yellow if he's the fastest?" and other dumb questions.
He's not the messiah, he's only a sprinter. And that's boring.

    Yea, differing opinions.

Boring????? I dont find guys sprinting at 45mph, elbow to elbow, anything but exciting and scary. No, he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he is clever enough to be on a salary that makes my head swim. In interviews what you see is what you get. No media speak just honest answers, sometimes brutal sometimes stupid, but always honest.
Also, he has won more races than any Brit ever has, and most other riders come to that. Saying he is boring merely because he is the fastest sprinter around is like saying Pantani was boring cos all he could do is climb.

Three years ago, in Paris, on the Tours final sprint, the side shot of Cav destroying the best sprinters in the world was awesome. He made them look like they were standing still. This is no different to a climber shredding the rest of the top guys on a climb. Each to there own skill.

but when i look at, when he won the green jersey everyone thought it an amazing achievement, but then i saw Sagan win it this year practically on one wheel, doing donuts and wheelies, without much effort it seemed and you almost got the impression he threw the green jersey in the back of his bedroom wardrobe and completely forgot about it, like it was nothing. Whereas Cavs is probably in a frame on his wall with a gold plaque underneath with Manx Missile engraved on it.
so, it's better that someone who doesn't appear to give a $hit about it wins it then?

  • I just can't hate anyone more than Vino, not even close! I can't believe he has so few votes, it almost makes me want to create another 32 logins to get him to his rightful place. The only person who gets close is Ricco and he's not on the list. And I probably feel a bit sorry for him now.

Rule No.10 // It never gets easier, you just go faster
  • Voted Hog. His smash and grab raid on the troubled but well funded Kazakh team was appalling. A what a parasite! Glad Vino sent him packing.

I am surprised at Contador's score. I respect him as a very tough character, and someone who can set a race on fire.

    I find Voeckler irritating tho'.

Many people on this forum seem to like Voeckler, but actually he isn't that popular on French cycling forums, because of his sometimes foolwise cycling manner and because of his arrogance. I guess you have to see him live interviewed (and understand French) to catch the latter – in written magazine interviews he comes over pretty sensible and likeable, but then you only see the words, not the manner in which they are spoken.
  • Contador because he hasn't been taken down for his blood doping. And for abusing his position as the most important guy in the peloton by maintaining the omerta. And for beginning work on his defence for when former team mates dish the dirt.

Massive talent, nice guy, utter c*nt.

What i don't understand about people's attitude to Voeckler is the "acting accusations" along the lines of when he's sitting at the back of the peloton, calmly riding along not trying very hard then he does nt look like he's trying, then when he attacks he pulls all these faces to look like he's trying really really hard. No, He IS trying really hard then!

It's more of this attitude of "meh riders are so boring, they never sy anything and don't have personalities anymo....

What a rider with a personality just said something? KILL!! MAIM!! PERSECUTE!!! HOW DARE HE HAVE AN OPINION!! WHO THE HELL DOES HE THINK HE IS?!"

  • Hmmm, can't see John Terry or Chelsea Football Club on that list.

Haha , Chelsea would be up there on my hate list.

Went for Mcquaid , the audacity/arrogance of the man aswell as his face rile me , cant stand him.

Close 2nd Contador and Valverde , for obvious reasons.

For what its worth I love Voeckler. He's great value to watch, always puts in a few digs, very tactically aware, once he's in a break he will NEVER give up - I pull faces getting over a humpback bridge, people moan about Voekler for pulling faces going flat out up Mont Ventoux!?

99% of the peloton are robots and dullards. Voeckler isn't one of them.

I like Tommy V for the reasons outlined above, but the face pulling is unneccessary - not the (understandable) pain faces, but the stupid gurning that he does that has nothing to do with working hard
  • I hold most of my contempt up for the bandwagon cycling fan though.

Espescially the many who I shared box hill with during the olympics. Especially the one who started spouting off about the "minute per 10km" rule for breakaways with an arrogant smirk when the winning break with Cancellara got away, after I'd said to my girlfriend that it was game over for the Brits.

His ill fitting HTC jersey didn't help his cause either.

They're the same guys who will bang on about nutrition and watts despite having spent less than a 100hrs in their life actaully on a bike and know the brand of every single cycling make ever.

    Tossers.

I couldnt agree more. The weekend wannabes. I cant stand those people who have all the gear but no idea. Thats one thing i always swore i wouldnt be, its almost borderline golf club mentality.
Its the same when people spout shjt about mileage and time. Theres always a few bullshjtters who come out with 'i did 10 miles in 15 minutes' averaging 60mph. Yeah, and im Mickey Mouse.

    Tossers and c*nts.
